****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Yes it is related to tethering, it turns your phone into wifi hotspot, don't delete if unless you really don't want to use it as i did and was unable to install it back even from the backup i had.

Funnily enough "tethering" has been around a long time before the term "tethering" came into being.

Was it Apple who came up with the term?

Aaargh. Why can't companies tell you they don't have stock when you order a phone.

After placing an order for a SGS2 with O2 last week and setting today as a delivery date, I was told by two different people on Friday and yesterday that the order had been processed and would be delivered.

I rang up this morning, as I still hadn't received any tracking info, only to be told it was showing as 'In Dispatch' and hasn't actually been sent out. It had been out of stock and the stock should have come in yesterday but if I don't get any emails today I should ring again tomorrow.

I asked for today as someone could be in all day where as tomorrow we have a family day out planned. Are O2 usually this vague or is it just my bad luck?

I'm quite tempted by one of these as an upgrade to my San Francisco as I'd quite like a faster phone. However I've used the previous SG and much prefer stock android over Samsungs version, how easy is it to get rid of their crap? Battery life is also something I'd like to improve, with my normal usage my San Francisco just about lasts a day, would I see any improvement with a SGII?

Now settled on my final theme, I like it... nice and clean and probably easier on the battery than all colour too.

Just need to get to grips with Widgetlocker now and make something memorable on that. :)

Should wifi go to sleep when the screen is turned off as looking at the battery stats of my phone its just a solid line and when I turn the screen on it doesn't change from 3g to wifi its always on wifi.

Audio mod for camcorder is out on XDA, records audio at 192k/44.1KHz instead of the default 64/16KHz.

Will record some samples comparing with/without at lunch.

Very interesting, thanks for the heads up! Would love it if there were some video recording quality tweaks to be unleashed too. :)

Just a quick heads up. The official Samsung Galaxy S II dock should be available in the next few weeks. I've seen it here, but other places will obviously stock it as well.

If you do find a better price, please let us know?

I have synced my contacts from my iPhone to Google Contacts, is that the best way or should I use a different 'intermediate' program, but what program will I need to get them from Google Contacts to SGS2, if that is even possible?

I assume when you say Google contacts you have added them to your gmail account? If so all you have to do is sync your google/gmail account on your SGS and all your contacts will be downloaded.

I love this as all my contacts are online so when ever I get a new phone all I have to do is sync it and voila all my contacts are there :)

You do realise that to make grey and white it requires the use of every LED in the RGB range. It's probably the most battery draining theme you could have chosen. ;)

(Not that it will make any difference, just sayin')

I don't have a Gmail account, I made a Google Contacts account by entering my ISP e-mail adress

Doh, really? :(

Would black wallpaper with white icons be much better then?

EDIT - Changing to a darker wallpaper, bah.
