You go to love Android.

You have around 800mg to play with for apps which is huge, I had around 300 on my Xperia X10 and never really used that. Only ever hit that on the X10 when I had a load of apps running and tried to use co-pilot it usually crashed co-pilot.

I still have a task killer as I just like to see whats running etc.

Wow, amazing! I was hoping beyond hope that they could squeeze more out of the video (as I posted before), and for that to have been done already is pretty bloody nice! :eek:

Someone get testing asap! :D

I was wondering if apps running in the background drain the battery?

Also I see
System memory 180MB/1.97GB
USB memory 161MB/11.50GB
SD card 0MB/0MB

I have no SD card installed but if I check the memoryusage in settings and I select SD card at the top (3rd tab) I see 161MB used out of 11GB which is USB memory :confused:

What is USB memory, is that internal memory of th Phone and part of that is reserved as System memory?

All seems fine.

1080p:

720p:

Both in SuperFine setting.

No they will not unless they're actively syncing data (weather widgets sett o sync more often than required etc). if it's just a normal app (game, app etc) then it will just sleep and won't consume any battery.

I'm looking to get a 32GB microsSDHC card now, but I'm very weary of buying a fake.

Can anyone recommend a specific brand and model? I'd like to get the closest genuine I can to class 10 as possible. Obviously you can't tell me where you bought it, but a price would be useful.

This guy, hyperX is an absolute genius. Symbian have lost a giant to android here. He's pretty much responsible for saving the Samsung i8910i in a lot of people's eyes.

Mine is on it's way and should be here any time this afternoon. I'm coming from an iPhone 3G which I'll keep as an iPod Touch so hopefully this phone will be a big improvement. Like some my 3G's performance was drastically reduced with the arrival of iOS4, I rolled back to 3.1.3 but certain apps require 4 so it was necessary. I also tried jailbreaking and it's not for me so I figured it was new phone time. :p

All seems fine.

How did you apply the fix... just copy the apk over the existing one and reboot? Is the video quality much better... ie: is it worth it for the large increase in bitrate and resulting file sizes? If not ill just install the sound mod and leave the video as-is methinks.

If you have root explorer in just go in the system/app folder and rename the original camera.apk to camera.apk.bak, then copy the new one in its place and off you go.

Even if you put the new one in with the higher video rates you can still use the original settings by changing the quality this also includes the sound quality mod, I guess in 720p you would choose fine to give you the standard rate and in 1080 it would be normal.

1080p mode:
Normal = 17 Mbit
Fine = 24 Mbit
Super fine = 30 Mbit

720p mode
Normal = 9 Mbit
Fine = 13 Mbit
Super fine =17 Mbit

This phone is incredible. The only gripe I have is that I can't get games like Dungeon Hunter 2 for it and neither the Android Market nor Gameloft cares to make it clear why.

6 hours standby next to me bed only cost 2% charge, but then I have frozen all the hubs and don't sync any data.
I know that samsung have said there is a battery drain issue with dual core mobiles, it does seem to be random. I've had my phone sat on my desk, no wifi or data, and it's gone from 90% at 9am to 62% at 2pm. I've sent half a dozen texts - no music, internet, camera, anything apart from texts. I have removed my weather apps, battery apps, frozen the hubs and wifi sharing.....

I'm wondering whether this is a firmware issue, or do I have a dodgy battery.

What tomtom sat nav software goes with this phone? Navigator or some other version of tomtom? How good is the built in satnav software that comes with it, and does the built in GPS hardware pick up a signal fast? My HTC diamond takes forever to get a signal, even with quick GPS updated.

GPS on?

Ok, done and seems to work with no issues. Sound is deifnitely better, but not sure if the video quality is much different given the large increase in filesize?

I'm at work so I can't look into this too much but I believe it's just an issue with the method used for processing the textures, and you can get around it by using ChainFire3D.

I don't want to go into too much detail as I'm not sure about the legality, but I can confirm that I have Samurai II: Vengeance working perfectly on my SGS2 (supposedly only compatible with Tegra 2).
