****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Do the dual core chips not OC well then or something? I mean, I run more than a 100% overclock on my milestone without a single issue, so 300mhz doesn't seem like much! aha

Psst, don't tell anyone but the CPU inside the Samsung is not the same as the one inside the Milestone.

Opera Mobile doesn't support flash yet, actually not sure just tried it and the option is there for flash.

Yeah it has the option to have it always on or on click etc and I have it on click and it doesn't work at all. And if you switch to enabled then the flash video doesn't show at all. Pretty disappointing really.

I'm using Dolphin HD so far and really can't find a flaw with it besides text not reflowing automatically when a new page is loaded... you have to double tap or pinch to zoom out manually. It's VERY fast, even on a slow data connection.

^ The problem is with BBC, sometimes they update the site and it works, then they change something else and it breaks. :) (flash and webkit updates could mess with it too) Luckily most embedded vids are avalible outside the article on the watch/listen section.

just switched to go launcher, been using ADW for ages, but love how go launcher works as default, to be honest i think ADW is not as snappy as it was on my desire, maybe needs an update

Is there any app or configuration I can do where the LED lights on the phone flash when I receive a text?

My Nokia 5800 used to flash white when I received a text so if I missed the tone I could always tell by just seeing if the LED lights flash but I can't seem to do it with the Samsung which is rather annoying!!!

Any way to fix it?

get no led from the market

Well I decided to get the Galaxy S II!

Got another month on my O2 contrCt but Three have told me that they won't activate my SIM for 30 days so I don't have to pay 2 contracts.

Have switched it on a and it's great! Fast, light and great screen!

There is one problem though and it's a big one... WIFI!! I'm typing this on my iPhone as the SII can't get any signal (it connected for a little bit but now only have 1 bar and I can't do anything on it which is rather annoying!

Wifi issues affecting anyone else? (my router is a Sky Netgear if that helps!)

Hmm, found an interesting issue with mine - All my apps have disappeared from 'My Apps' in Android Market, all that remain are Google Maps, Widget Locker and Youtube.

I probably had around 40-50 installed. Anyone got any idea how to restore the list?

Seems like certain routers are just generally low powered coupled with the low powered wifi chip on the Galaxy s2. Samsung probably did this as it saves a lot of battery power. The BT homehub for me had much better signal at distance than the netgear I got from Virgin media.

get no led from the market
Great thanks!

And is there any reason why random apps are always open? When I go into advanced task killer there are random apps open which I haven't even been on (email/poweramp/maps) and more. Was wondering if there's a way to stop them opening ect

A few people, and they all seem to be using Netgear routers. I'm using a Thomson, and my GS2 has the best wifi connection of anything in the house.

My Netgear router is fine can get it wifi no matter what room round the house and its not dropped yet, can sit in the garden and all is fine also.

I measured the distance before its un usable for me and its 4 houses down.

"All people with problems use Netgear routers" is not the same as "all people with Netgear routers have problems", though, is it?

Has anyone rooted an orange branded SGS2 yet?

I want to find confirmation that the usual method works for the orange phones

Great thanks!

advanced task killer is not great on showing which tasks/apps are actually running/active - most of them are cached making the app open quicker.

Use samsungs own task manager to see what is really running. I have advanced task killer too but I never really kill anything just use it to see what's there.

task killer does more harm than good. they only reason people should use it is if they have a really old naff handset. android is designed to run and use apps the way it does,

if you have a bad app then uninstall and report it, other wise it would get fixed.

I have found my first problem, i downloaded the zedge ringtone app, now i can set the ringtones normally and they work fine, but the notifications tone (i.e texts?) wont set, it all seems to be set up right, but is still sounding my default notification sound when i get a text... am i missing something
