****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

There's not a single mobile around that can touch the current sgs for audio quality and the very same dac is being used in the sgs 2

Excellent that for me swings my choice for the SGS2! Heard good things about the Voodoo as well on the original S! I don't like carrying multiple devices around with me so would prefer a mobile with a decent DAC onboard.

As much as this phone looks pure awesomeness, I can't help wishing they-d upped the rez like manzy other Android phones are at the moment... even the 960x540 of the Motorola Atrix and HTC Sensaiton would have been a good improvement. I think it's the only flaw of this otherwise spec-perfect phone. Well, besides lack of Xenon flash of course. ;)

It would have pushed up the cost of the handset considerably.

Having owned a 4.3" 800x480 device, I'd rather have that with a SAMOLED+ screen without pentile matrix than a higher res screen.

The majority of apps are currently designed for 800x480 anyway. (or can they be coded in a way that will work at higher resolutions automatically?)

Once the screen tech is researched and established, minor resolution upgrades are of no consequence to the manufacturer, costs certainly wouldn't be an issue considering the margin they make on the phones already, ie: pretty chuffing big.

Regarding the resolution, I think apps do have to be written to scale for it, and I gather it's really only a minor coding update to add it.

Increasing the resolution of this gen sAMOLED+ would've dramatically increased the cost.
To achieve higher ppi (300+) Samsung are moving to a new laser based manufacturing process over the current shadow mask method. (The 4.3" size increase is due to the extra sub pixel but they're still the same size as sAMOLED)

Really simple, if touchwiz isn't to your liking then Launcher pro. Or go launcher ex can be installed in minutes, loads of ways to tailor droid to suit your tastes and all quick and easy. :)

Cool, thanks, jsut seen a few demo vids and think I preferred how the original looked over Samsungs skin.

What are the best offers around? buymobilephones.net have a good t-m contract for 18m @ 35 per month, they said they are not getting them in until later in May?

I am tempted to get it sim free now..best bet Expansys + quidco? What are good sim only deals around?

Just a very quick passing thought and was wondering if anyone with any Android/Galaxy experience could answer this.

What are the chances of getting a SD-HC card adapter to plug into the S ii USB port to download a bunch of photos I've taken onto the Galaxys memory card? Now that would be fantastic on holidays.

Even 720p on the SGS1 is ridiculously amazing, it's so good even in low light it puts many high street "HD" camcorders to shame.

I expected nothing less from the SGS2 :p
