****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

No but I've heard of a sales technique called "bait n switch"

Not sure how this could have bait and switch as I called them directly as I have 2 phones on one account already with them, so before I went elsewhere it was an obvious place to start, hoping I get some kind of deal, plus no other alternative was offered....

They just said due to a software error all the phones had gone back to Samsung, and new stock was due mid July :(

Considering how easy it is to get malware etc these days into software, or pieces of code then yes, its def worth getting. Im using an app called "lookout"- Search for it on the market place :)

P.S. What was wrong with your 1st device?

Looking at getting a SG2, but my contract doesnt run till September but Quidco and sellling my hero will pay for that. What im wondering is, will the SG2 still be the phone to get by September or will their be other droids coming to take its place? Looking at what we know only the Sensation and the EVO plus a few LG phones have been announced to come out after the the SG2 so is there any other phones on the horizon i should be looking at?

No, you'll be fine, don't worry about it.

No offense, but telling people "you'll be fine" isnt exactly true

Apps can contain virus's and malware. If you downloaded a game/piece of software off the net and it had ads within, it would be adware. How many apps have you played that have had ads within the game?

Ok so adware isnt something that is dangerous, but its just as easy to get something malicious into an app.

If you're installing random apps from all over the place you should be cautious, but I don't believe you need anti-virus software.

In general operation you won't encounter viruses.

Google have even removed apps from the marketplace which has had malware hidden within the app. So in general operation... (assuming that includes going on the market place and downloading crap) you "could" encounter a problem.

As phones become more like PC's you stand a higher risk of having a problem. Especially when anyone can code and sell apps. Be safe, and get AV software.

Is there a decent racing game for this phone, i thought with this fancy dual core i could play a better graphics game, tried playing a game like whacksy taxi and the fone gets bloody got 40C+ how the heck are you suppose to play the game holdin the fone?

Tonight, while I was connected to my wireless network and the phone wasn't being used, it apparently connected to 3G and uploaded 60mb of info. That's now 140mb of data over the last five days. My data usage monitors have recognised that it's being uploaded, but not which app or process is using it. I can't image what would want to upload that much info and what it would be.

Strangely, none of it appears on my Vodafone account, but I have emailed them to ask for my data usage. Very odd behaviour.

I have been waiting for the 2.3.4 update before loading a new ROM, but I might not wait and go for a factory reset. Apart from this mysterious uploading (which uses loads of battery), battery life is now at a perfectly acceptable level. Very frustrating. I reckon it might me an app thing, rather than a SGS2 thing, judging by how I've not seen anyone else complain.

After going away on holiday last week and using my phone as i camera as i couldn't be bothered to lug an slr around, i am really impressed with the camera on it, pictures seem nice and clear on it which is good.

Battery is lasting longer than i expected too which is good! Although i sort of tricked it into using 4% in 17 and a half hours ealier by turning everything off.....

That happened on my Desire once, I would have a good look at your apps...!

I got rid of most of them, gave the phone a good tidy... only kept 'big' known official apps and the problem was gone.

Didn;t help my data usage that month tho, had to phone orange and up my data allowance.

What app is reporting that? Is it traffic counter by any chance?

Do you guys charge via USB or mains? I noticed my battery from flat was not even a third full after 45 minutes connected to USB so I've now connected to mains as I read it's much faster.
