****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Do you guys charge via USB or mains? I noticed my battery from flat was not even a third full after 45 minutes connected to USB so I've now connected to mains as I read it's much faster.

USB charging is trickle based so takes a lot longer than the mains.

Edit: Though had it of got to 1/3 in 45 mins it would only have taken just over 2hrs for full charge which is ambitious.

£149 for phone plus £6 p+pand flex 35 for £17.50 month ,on a 18month contract(35 flex {2009}contract,it says on this months bill)
free internet and all that too

not bad but not great either. I was able to get Flext 40 (18 months) therefore £20/m and free phone. :)

Tonight, while I was connected to my wireless network and the phone wasn't being used, it apparently connected to 3G and uploaded 60mb of info. That's now 140mb of data over the last five days. My data usage monitors have recognised that it's being uploaded, but not which app or process is using it. I can't image what would want to upload that much info and what it would be.

Strangely, none of it appears on my Vodafone account, but I have emailed them to ask for my data usage. Very odd behaviour.

I have been waiting for the 2.3.4 update before loading a new ROM, but I might not wait and go for a factory reset. Apart from this mysterious uploading (which uses loads of battery), battery life is now at a perfectly acceptable level. Very frustrating. I reckon it might me an app thing, rather than a SGS2 thing, judging by how I've not seen anyone else complain.

Eh! if your connected to your Wi-fi it should over ride the phone connection not the other way around.
Am i right?

I have 3g (packet data) switched off yet the app I was using was still reporting "cell usage"

Which is why i wondered what tool you had used.....

That happened on my Desire once, I would have a good look at your apps...!

I got rid of most of them, gave the phone a good tidy... only kept 'big' known official apps and the problem was gone.

Didn;t help my data usage that month tho, had to phone orange and up my data allowance.
I was holding fire until 2.3.4 came out - I might not if it happens again today.

What app is reporting that? Is it traffic counter by any chance?
I'm using both Traffic Counter Extended and NetSentry.

I thought so as well!

There are some video sites that tell me "this video is not optimised for mobile" and the video play but is terribly choppy.

Is there anything that can be done to get round this? I assumed the SGS2 would be able to play anything short of 1080p. These videos are definitely not high quality.

It's the site's problem as the gs2 can playback 1080p flash fine on sites like YouTube.

my vodafone contract just expired and as i already purchased the S2 sim free (in theory) i just changed to a 12month deal voda offered me, 300min, unlimited txt, 500mb data for £10 per month. quite pleased with that.

Anyone getting this from T-Mobile heard from them about when they are getting any stock in? I received a text yesterday saying they didn't have a date for delivery of my phone but would keep me updated. Just wondering if anyone else has heard anything? Just want this phone now, i'm like a kid a christmas lol.

I'm calling T-Mobile every few days to chase up, and all they are saying is that they should get stock in before the end of the month.

Answer:

Find yourself a 'Chitter Chatter' store - you can get the phone with them via the deal you have direct with t-mobile - if they say otherwise phone up t-mobile while your in the shop and prove the deal. That's what my cuz and I on t-mobile did - unlocked and unbranded handsets too.

I spoke to T-Mobile yesterday and they said stock wouldn't be in till mid July.... I almost cryed!!!

If its from the market, it will be debited from your card.

Obviously a credit card or PayPal, which you link to your market account.

Another noob question. I've not transferred any files to the phone yet and want to download my first app called Delphino calendar alarm. When I connect the phone via usb, I can view the my files section and put stuff into those folders. Do I put mp3s, apps, etc all into the usb storage folder?
