****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

i'm thinking about buying the CoPilot Live UK + Ireland for £22.49 from android market, but what i want to know is will they take the £22.49 from my phone credit or would it ask for a credit card?

Stuff bought on the market requires and is charged from a credit card which you setup in the google side of things,

Just out of curiosity though why are you buying it, for UK and Ireland surely the google nav would work fine and is nice and free? :p

For what it's worth I've got CoPilot and whilst it's ok, the free nav is better. I bought mine before google released the free nav and still keep it installed 'just in case' but not used it in a very long time...

Another noob question. I've not transferred any files to the phone yet and want to download my first app called Delphino calendar alarm. When I connect the phone via usb, I can view the my files section and put stuff into those folders. Do I put mp3s, apps, etc all into the usb storage folder?

Android will take care of apps so you don't need to worry about them. For other stuff, copy to either USB storage, which is the internal sd card, or use the external SD. You can basically dump the files wherever you like, MP3's, images, videos, etc. are automatically picked up by the relevant software.

I see. Thanks matey.

Not strictly true, You can plan your route at home on Wifi and cache it to the memory.
i've tryed that but the program will only start when theres a internet connection so it's ok going somewhere but when it's time to come back house u can't start the nav program without connecting to the internet..

I'm still like a kid in a sweetshop, this phone just gets better all the time. :D
I just installed a great app. I love the way it just installed wirelessly to my phone via google. So this app is called Calendar Snooze. It breaks through the lock screen to alert you of calendar events and you can make it speak to you. I set an event for 2.45pm 'cheques to bank' and I set the alarm to remind me 15 minutes beforehand. At 2.30pm, this satnav type womans voice says "cheques to bank in 15 minutes!". and a screen breaks through my lock screen with all sorts of options like dismiss, snooze for 5 mins, 10 mins, etc. It's also got LED reminders or something. Absolutely brilliant. If you want to try it, here's the link I used. The free version is not adfree, but it's not really obtrusive.

Oh and I just changed to swype, that works really nicely!

That's pretty suck then, I think this may be being fixed in the next version. I'm sure I read an article not long ago about the next release being able to go totally without a connection to use the navigation.

because google nav needs internet access to work.. im on pay as you go so it'll cost a lot.

Guess that's as good a reason as any :)

In that case, as said it'll be charged onto the card/paypal, CoPilot itself is reasonably good, I dislike a few things like it's complete lack of integration into android (it uses a bespoke keyboard, goes fullscreen so don't get the notifications bar etc etc) but as a sat nav it works.

I believe there are a couple of other offline options available if you're interested, some may even be free, I think there was a thread recently discussing specifically offline ones...

Umm I have the navigation bar showing when using CoPilot and it will also let me use my Thumb Keyboard for inputting the addresses so not sure why you don't get that. But they are definitely there on my SGS2

2 More issues for me! 1 is I have experienced some screen burn after 2 weeks. 2 is the camera not working at all when on low battery!

Samsung & Android are really making it hard for me to like this phone!!

Screen burn? Do you like have the screen always on or something?

The camera not working with low battery can be fixed with VillainTweaks if you're rooted.

There is a mod to get the camera working on low battery (:

AFAIK you can even just use villian tweaks to install it even on the standard rom.. but id wait for someone to confirm that!

You will need root though (:

Edit: Doh.

Ok, is it fair to say this this is stuff that we really shouldn't have to mod. I needed to take some important pics today and I couldn't, I can understand that the LED flash would be disabled on low battery but the actual camera is a joke.

What about screen burn? should I be worried? It shouldn't happen at all nevermind after 2 weeks

I'm new to android so not sure what rooted is, I assume it is something similar to a custom rom or custom boot loader which I used to deal with on windows mobile.

Either way i am not willing to do it these days, so if this can't be fixed I can see this phone going back If possible.

And to answer about the screen, no its not on all the time, but it has had a lot of use in the last 2 weeks while I have been abroad and the screen has been on full brightness as it was impossibe to see anything in the sun when it was set to auto.
