****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Remember when Burger King used a bloke with really small hands to advertise their Whopper and make it look bigger than it is?

Well, maybe Samsung should employ me as a hand model for the exact opposite reason, looks tiny in my paddle hands :D

Hardly call that looking tiny.. :p

Anyone buying T-mobile contracts via thirdparty retailers should be aware that by default your data speeds will be crippled. You will not be on 'web and walk plus' and will therefore only be receving 3g speeds, even if your phone is showing that you are connected via HSDPA. Had to ring them up and got someone to sort it for me and put me on the correct data package when I bought my last phone, though if you buy an android phone direct from T-Mobile then you are fine.

More details in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823302

woah that is not good. I will quite possibly cancel my order if that turns out to be the case. Will ring them tomorrow if they are open.

Dispatch note on mine, that'll be Tuesday then. Sold my SGS to the scrapers for £170, on a backup phone. One day without and I can't believe how much I miss it already.

Me too, let us know how you get on. I've scoured the T-Mobile website, BuyMobilePhones.net website (incl. terms and conditions), and even looked on other resellers websites, it's not mentioned anywhere at all that you'll be subject to lower speeds by purchasing through a reseller. They can't enforce something like that without telling you first, it's unacceptable.

my friend who works at o2 can do me a deal, 19.99 for 24 months 300mins unlim txts 500mb data, have to pay 50 quid for the phone(good deal? as im not familiar with contract prices). or he can get the sim free one thats going for 399 for 360 and i can do what i usually do and just get a 12 month sim only contract with quidco cash back which works out to me paying generally in the region of 7.50- 20 quid a month. contracts usually consist of 500+ minutes 500mb unlim txts.

im not sure what to do, im steering towards the usual 12month sim only contract but i have a feeling i may not be able to get great deals as i did in the past, im only paying 7.50 a month for 600mins unlim txt unlim landline calls at the mo with the option of switching the unlim landlines for 500mb of data, but then i would have to pay a fiver which brings the total to 12.50 which is still top stuff. my man at o2 said they have stopped doing unlim landline and they have put their 500mb data to around 7quid. so i think its going to be hard for me to find decent sim only deals, especially with o2 as i want to stick with them. the best sim only deals seem to come just before and after christmas, my contract runs out in august, even if i get a 12 month sim only for 15 quid and bought the phone for 360, would still work out dearer than doing the 20quid 24 monther, and theres no guarantee that i would get what im being offered with the 20 quid contract, well i'd probably get more minutes but to be honest i dont really call people much at all.

think i will go for the 20 quidder unless any of you guys know a good deal with orange because i can get 25% off contracts.

That contract would normally go for £27, so not a bad deal.

If you are not fussed about data you could get it for a bit less and upgrade if you feel the need, you can go up anytime but not down.

I just ordered from O2 for £399.

I need this phone to work on O2 AND Orange. I hope it can be unlocked to work with both otherwise it will be going back.

@ aprocter ahh i see, well i have wireless at home so no need for the 500mb there but at home at work where i am most of the day i can get H signal so i know i will be browsing at official and unofficial breaktimes.....thanks for the tip tho

Good news!

My cousin can get friends and family half price line rental for life with free phones so I've got dibs on the s2 as soon as possible!
