****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Coudl anyone hazzard a guess we could be waiting for the O2 PAYG deal/ sto come back into stock if they are apparently sold out already?

I was beginning to think that'd be my best option lol, I believe it comes with Web n Walk, but the 356k cap is only lifted with Web n Walk plus.

It seems people are having difficulty managing to get them to lift this though for contracts / handsets purchased after Feb.

This actually explains why my friends newly contracted Desire is so slow.....However, i've scrawled through the T+Cs and can't find any mention of this anywhere. Before they lowered the fair use to 500mb it was easier to define whether you were capped or not: 1Gb allowance = capped, 3Gb allowance = not capped. Now there's no way of telling short of getting the phone and running speedtest :/

Incidentally; I cannot find any official info whatsoever from t-mobile about web n walk.

Indeed, there's simply no information about any of this anywhere. Typical mobile phone networks/sellers, there's absolutely no transparency, it's all marketing crap.

Incidentally, I absolutely loved the wording on BuyMobilePhones.net:

"Unlimited Internet has a Fair Use Policy of 500MB a month."

Reminds me of an infomercial for knives I saw years ago; "The knives that never need sharpening...until they go dull".

On a more related note, how are O2 as a network? Just noticed they do £90 cashback for new contracts, which makes their fairly lacklustre SGS2 contracts fairly tempting. £10 for PAYG purchases too, if anyone else is getting a PAYG one.

I'm not sure which route to take yet. I really don't need a contract, I don't make that many calls or send that many texts. But at the same time, paying £400 in one go is quite steep.

I'm in the same position as you mate. I'm looking to get this phone but my actual calls/texts usage is miniscule... it's all data for me. My PAYG history clearly shows that a £10 topup lasts a good couple of months for me, especially when networks throw in bonuses that last X period of time when you top up.

However with that being said, if I can find a contract that offers a good chunk of data that allows me to effectively spread out the cost of the current O2 PAYG price for this handset I might consider it, but I haven't seen one yet.

Just going to play the waiting game for now... :)

O2 do 50 mins, 250 texts, 1GB data for £25.50pm for 18 months. £149.99 for the handset, but Quidco/TopCashBack will give you £90 back. Brings the total cost of the contract down to £519, which seems fairly good.

I always end up going for a contract with more minutes/texts than I ever really need, in the anticipation that I might need them at some point. I never do. :o

Same, but nice to have I guess right? You know what... I might not even need that 1GB of data. That 500mb @ £21.50pm with cashback is looking mighty tempting now, shame I only get a day to think about it before that cashback rate goes :(

So the whole thing with Tmobile capping your internet speed, do orange do the same thing?

Its a shame im having to leave 3, seems they have a lot of decent things that a lot of the other networks dont :S

Orange dont cap your data, however t-mobile do which is a big pain in the ass and all the customer support poeple act like they dont. However i finally got miney to web and walk plus a few weeks ago. Before that it was such a slow connection but now its actual good I get around 2mb down speed almost everwhere with really low ping around 90.

this might sound think but has anyone still using touchwiz how do you get the app draw in alphabetical instead of it being jumbled.

Am i right in assuming none of this happens with Voda either? Got me nervous now :p

Sorry for being dim, but what do you mean by this? Do you mean the app menu? If so it isn't possible to make them alphabetical in grid view, however switching it to list view sorts them alphabetically automatically

Yeah that is what I mean bit disappointing that its a pain everything being jumbled up, I have put it in order but its a pain.

I actually prefer it that way, though i admit it would be nice to have a third option for alphabetical grid, though i certainly wouldn't want it messing with my current arrangement.

I have a page for each 'type' of app. So i've got a social networking page, games page, news page, entertainment, etc. This way i can fill my 'windows' with widgets and just jump into the apps menu for a more varied selection.

Anyone tried the radio yet? It's fantastic! Perfect reception in my living room, something my mp3 player is incapable of.

Me too, let us know how you get on. I've scoured the T-Mobile website, BuyMobilePhones.net website (incl. terms and conditions), and even looked on other resellers websites, it's not mentioned anywhere at all that you'll be subject to lower speeds by purchasing through a reseller. They can't enforce something like that without telling you first, it's unacceptable.

Well buymobilephones seem to be closed, however I did get a reply from twitter last night - http://www.tweetdeck.com/twitter/buymobiles_help/~OFHfD

Hi, I will get an official response for you from T Mobile but suffice to say it would be madness for the data on T Mobile tariffs bought from our site to be any different from the data on T Mobile tariffs bought direct from T Mobile. All we do is connect customers to standard T Mobile tariffs. It is also untrue to suggest that T Mobile customer services would not be willing to speak to you. When a customer purchases a T Mobile contract via ourselves they become a T Mobile customer in exactly the same way that they would if they had bought direct. They will therefore be treated the same way by customer service. Kind regards Paul

Interestingly, although the tweetdeck link still works, the twitter post itself seems to have been deleted since.

Tmobile sales were adamant that they do not cap speeds for 3rd party suppliers. I think I will keep my order going and then use that as leverage should the limit turn out to be true.

THat is good news, literally the only place i can listen to radio one is when i'm walking down tottenham court road, about a mile from where it is actually being broadcast from. ANywhere else and i just get static and also, data caps are too severe to stream over 3g :(

I'm not promising the world; my mp3 player is a sansa clip+. I'm generally naff with gadgets and technology, this is my first 'high end' gadget.

It is worth noting that the reception was unusable with the sansa though and near perfect with the SGSII indoors. Haven't tested it outdoors but i can only imagine the trend will continue.

One disappointment is that when the phone is under heavy load (ie PSX emulation) there is a very quiet background noise, sounds like interference (not surprising considering how close the headphone jack is to the screen). However when idle/playing music it isn't present. It's also barely audible, i only noticed it when navigating menus in a game.

well the desire is shocking in that respect, i only get static unless i'm in london so it can't be worse :)
