****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Woot

Samsung Galaxy S2 from 02 on payG for 399

then upgrading my existing contract to a sim only tariff for 21.50 for 12 months with 600 mins and 500 mb a month data

£657 and only 12 months

Ordered from the o2 site now and gonna cancel my buymobilephones order. I noticed that my internet on T Mobile got a lot slower 2 weeks ago when i changed it from a contract to a monthly sim only and it looks like this is the reason. I dont want to put up with slow internet speeds on such a fast phone!

You should have considered GiffGaff! They run off o2 as well.

Good news!

My cousin can get friends and family half price line rental for life with free phones so I've got dibs on the s2 as soon as possible!

Is that with T-Mobile?

Try £360 total for 18 months - T-Mobile Flext40 (friends&family) :p:D

No a smaller firm, competitor so I can't link. I had it ordered all over, the big Jersey firm were the worst, couldn't give an eta or confirm any stock incoming. Gum have emailed dispatch see here > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959545&page=108

Same here pre orders at many places then only late this afternoon I see the o2 deal on HKUD!! But Gum seem to have it first! Cancelled mine from that company which state "First For Stock" Pfft!

Will try to see if I can get it from o2 otherwise GUM deal is good for unbranded/sim free.

Can i ask what deal you got please mate.

Err not what I would call fantastic but ok for me 500MB data 700 mins 700 txts (I think those are the correct numbers don't care too much about these I just normally go for the min I can get they may be 600 each?) £35 pm 18 months

We have received your item and expect to deliver it before the guaranteed time on 03/05/11.
:)

Thanks mate i will ring them tomorrow.

If it helps I filled out the form on thier website to enquire if I was eligible for an upgrade and they phoned me (this was on tuesday), the chap phoned me all excited wanted to confirm I was happy with Orange etc etc, he wanted to know if I had any particular handsets in mind tried to find out why I would not consider something else haha. He had a word with his boss and said that they could do me an upgrade on the SGS2 but I would get it in 7-10 days as upgrade stock was different from new contract stock. The credit check only completed today but when I chased them I was given the tracking number, happy days

Hmm trying to decide what to do. I could wait till June for T-Mobile to release the phone so I get it free but it'll be branded and network locked. The upside is I get 900mins, unlimited texts and data for £30 a month, and the phone is free.

Or I could get a new contract through a third party (mobiles.co.uk) so I can get a unlocked phone (sooner!). Downside is that I can't find any contracts that match my current contract at the same price (£35, 700mins, unlimited texts and data), with the phone being free (or at least very close).

Maybe it's worth contacting O2 to see what they can do.

Decisions decisions! What would you guys do? I'm too impatient :(

Well I've done a lot of reading around and it does seem that T-Mobile will be capping any of us who purchase a contract through third party to 3G speeds of 358k, unless that is we want to ring them and add another internet booster for a further cost to remove the cap.

It seems that anyone who got their phone before Feb and had this happen managed to persuade them to remove the cap for free, but after Feb and there's no chance.

I'll wait to hear what others say / find out, but at the moment I'm a little lost as to what to do, I thought the deal I'd got from buymobilephones.net was a little too good :(

T-Mobile have always done that. However, you can ring them up over and over again until you get someone that will enable Web n Walk, as it should be on by default for Android handsets, just dont tell them where you got it from :)

I was beginning to think that'd be my best option lol, I believe it comes with Web n Walk, but the 356k cap is only lifted with Web n Walk plus.

It seems people are having difficulty managing to get them to lift this though for contracts / handsets purchased after Feb.

This actually explains why my friends newly contracted Desire is so slow.....However, i've scrawled through the T+Cs and can't find any mention of this anywhere. Before they lowered the fair use to 500mb it was easier to define whether you were capped or not: 1Gb allowance = capped, 3Gb allowance = not capped. Now there's no way of telling short of getting the phone and running speedtest :/

Incidentally; I cannot find any official info whatsoever from t-mobile about web n walk.
