****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Yep, it's locked to O2 but apparently they're willing to unlock it for a small fee. Some people argued that they wouldn't do that for 12 months however, but i think that was just a rumour in the end.

that would still work out way cheaper if i wanna get one SIM free i guess, does anyone know if i purchased in America would i have issues using here? i go in 7 weeks and would imagine its gonna be cheaper

Bit strange; i tried to fire up the screen just now and there was no life in the phone. Had to pop the battery out and put it back in again to get it to boot.

Anyone else had this happen too?

I'm in the same position as you mate. I'm looking to get this phone but my actual calls/texts usage is miniscule... it's all data for me. My PAYG history clearly shows that a £10 topup lasts a good couple of months for me,

why dont you go for giffgaff 10quid top up goody bag, where you get 250mins unlim text and truly unlim internet, and they use o2 network.

Well buymobilephones seem to be closed, however I did get a reply from twitter last night - http://www.tweetdeck.com/twitter/buymobiles_help/~OFHfD

Interestingly, although the tweetdeck link still works, the twitter post itself seems to have been deleted since.

Tmobile sales were adamant that they do not cap speeds for 3rd party suppliers. I think I will keep my order going and then use that as leverage should the limit turn out to be true.

That sounds promising. I'd prefer to stay with T-Mobile if possible seeing as I know I get a decent signal where I go. Tried a free Giff Gaff SIM in my old phone last night (my Hero is network locked...great), and the signal seems to fluctuate between poor and decent, which is less than ideal.

Just did some heavy calculations, looks like I will able to get this for a grand total of £460, which includes a £45 18 month contract with Voda.

Employee deals rock! :D

Taken from the O2 website : "If you're a Pay & Go customer, your O2 mobile can be unlocked 12 months after purchase for a one-off £15 fee which we'll deduct from your airtime balance".

I have a feeling there will be some egg on faces when these handsets start turning up and no one can unlock ;)

I am going to pause for a breath on all of this :D

Cancelled buymobilephones.net this am. They are available to cancel till 1pm I think.

Just spoke to T-Mobile, explained the situation regarding reduced internet speeds and said that some of this information was coming from T-Mobile themselves, but she was adamant that it wasn't true; the only influential factor should be your signal quality.

Just to give you some information about T-Mobile W'n'W. I'm a business customer and have been for the past 6 years and always had data on my SIM. I got my 1st Android device about 6 weeks ago and my speeds were:

Thought that speed was a little rubbish so called T-Mobile tech support and all the gent did was remove the W'n'W package and readd it

I'll stick with buymobilephones.net and hope this is true then. If it ends up as capped, ill kick up a fuss until the cap is removed.

Just got an upgrade for the wife to the following

SG2 - £100
100 mins, 500 text, 500mb downloads - £20 a month (24 month contract as she is not likely to upgrade anyway) from o2

Should be here next week sometime after bank holiday

Cool, I'm going to chance it.
