I tried D4 ROM and while it was very nice, I couldn't live without some AOKP customisations and the CRT effect so will re-visit D4 when it's fully featured.

Samsung's camera app UI remains the same from GB to ICS.

Oh sorry, i meant like in hydrogenics the camera is different, i assume thats stock ics, whereas im looking for the samsung camera app i could use with hydrogenics? if thats possible

You can't use Samsung apps on non Samsung ROMs due to the framework differences

Hmm I'm with vodafone but got my contract through phones4u. Kies isn't saying there's an update so does this mean I've got an unlocked phone and I have to wait longer for ICS?

Kies is showing:

You have unbranded/unlocked phone so you will have to wait

Thanks. How did you find that out?

Oh well, I guess thats good in the long run.. but it's really a shame that samsung aren't offering the update to unlocked phones first. I suppose I could root it but haven't really got a clue about rooting/flashing/Roms etc as I've only had an android phone for a couple of months! Havent taken the time to dig into the technical side of things yet.

yeah i guess if your phone is unbranded it will have the official release not orange/o2 etc..

and rooting/installing a rom is a peace of cake tbh! rooting being the most complicated thing and it is as complicating as ticking some boxes and putting phone into download mode and flashing correct files
