****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Installed the SIM free ICS via Kies, the only annoying thing was that it put on default desktop shortcuts so all of my shortcuts and even folders in the menu have been removed, so now putting them all back again! Will install Apex launcher now and see what that is like.

Updated my unbranded phone to ICS last night, had it fully charged before I started.

I woke up this morning and it was off having gone flat, it was at 93% when I went to bed.

I've since turned off Juice Defender and enabled the system power savings but it seems odd the way it just fell off a cliff. Anyone else seen anything like this since upgrading?

Quick question, I just had the prompt to update over the air, unfortunately I was out at the time and I only get 500MB data allowance so I wanted to wait until I got home, to download over WiFi. I cancelled the update, now whenever I check for updates it just says no updates are avaialable. What can I do? :)

Plug in a check with kies on PC. 500mb? I used 5.5gb last month:eek:

Download a stock firmware from xda developers and flash with Odin, update then flash the cf-root kernel via Odin to get root back.

or do it properly and just flash an aokp ics rom through recovery.

Ugh. Thanks for the reply. I didn't really want to have to faff around plugging my phone in, downloading ROMS/flashing and stuff. This is stupid, I don't understand why when I press search for updates it says there isn't any update available when less than three hours ago it was trying to bloody update to ICS!

Thanks for the reply. :)

If you're rooted and using a custom rom, you shouldn't be using/getting the ota update. Just have to unroot, or update your custom rom :)

I rooted and installed MIUI, then I got rid of MIUI and just put a stock Gingerbread ROM on my phone, but since doing that my phone won't update in Kies which is why I was waiting for the OTA one. Just because I'm too lazy to plug my phone into my computer and flash it again. :p

I guess I'll have to though. :)

Sorry guys, quick question!

Just seen that Kies says I can update my sim free (rooted) S2 to ICS..........

If I do that, will I have to re-root it after the update?

Also, am I likely to lose and data/ apps etc. (the phone is backed up via Kies anyway)

Thanks!
