****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Just about to buy myself and daughter a new phone she wants the Samsung s3 but being a pensioner the cost is to much! However, Tesco are doing the S2 for £15.50 per month 200min unlimited text and 500mb, on O2 which seems a good deal, we don't over use the phones and we can buy from Orange an S2 for £199 and go pay as you go. (1) We are with Orange at the moment and find the coverage very good, what is the O2 coverage like? (2) which deal to go for buy £199 or the pay monthly? (3) is the S2 worth it seeing it is old technology? Any help would be much appriciated.

The S3 on O2 is £26/month with unlimited minutes, texts and a gig of internet. Extra £256/year for both, total, if you could stretch that far.

(see my first entry)

OK problem with the Tesco deal, when we went in yesterday to buy the phones, they had trouble with the computer system, so told us to go in today about lunch time. This we did but when it game to set up the phone, overnight they had changed the deal and the deal was now, with a £20 charge for the hand set's? WE explained that the phones were keeped for us from yesterday when there was no charge and it was not my fault the computer went down when trying to set the hand sets up, BUT TO NO AVAIL, we can't have the deal unless we pay the £20 per hand set!!!!!!!!

So my next question is what do people think of buymobilephones.net, which still has the same deal as Tesco still running. Very confused, any help would be much appriciated.

I have had 8 phones from buymobilephones.net over the last few years (including an s1, 2x s2 and an s3) and the company have been great every single time. I have always received the phone the very next day and i cannot think of a single problem to be honest. I should add that I've never taken one of the contracts with free gifts or cashback so i don't know how reliable they are with those.

I definitely recommend them!

I ordered a Note 2 on wednesday with buymobilephones.net, at the time it was in stock and it was ordered before the next day cut off. At 9PM (when they close) I received an email saying that they were busy and the order hadn't been processed yet, I wasn't too annoyed at this point since it was 5PM I ordered it.

The next day while at work there's no change, so when I get home I ring them at 5PM and ask why it hadn't been shipped yet. The woman says "oh, they've just came in stock, you should get a dispatch email later on and have the phone tomorrow". I say ok and hang up, come 9PM again my status is still "processing".

I rang them this morning to ask why it still hadn't been processed and dispatched and get told "Oh, they won't be in stock until next week, we have white ones if you want that instead". Note that it had been in stock at time of ordering, and then I was told it had just came into stock the day before as well. I cancelled my order and just got it from the Three shop after work :(.

I wouldn't say they're bad, or advise against using them, but don't trust their stock status on popular phones :p. I hate being impatient :(.

Any current hot tips on semi decent screen protectors?
Don't need to be the best ones, just something to offer some protection for y mums new phone.

Had a quick look on the bay and you can get 10 for £1.55 delivered! Seem to cheap to be worth it, or are they?

Guys - please help!

I'm trying to get my phone repaired by samsung under warranty for a battery overheat issue (it's not the usb port, nor the battery so I can only think the mainboard needs replacing)

I've taken it to three authorized repair centres and they are useless, either by fobbing me off or trying to con me that it's water damage

Is it possible to send this back to Samsung directly in the post? I can't find anything on google. Or can anyone recommend a decent repair centre? My phone contract has finished so I can't send it back to tmobile.

Thanks :(

Question regarding flash.

I have flash on my S2 running 4.0.4.

Fingers crossed the JB update should come pretty soon, if I update to JB, what will happen to the preinstalled flash?

Does it remove it or leave it?

Should I uninstall it prior to update just to be safe?

Are any of you guys running the leaked Jelly Bean from Samsung? My sister has asked me to update hers to something - I figured that the genuine release would be the best bet?

My friend finally wants to update his GS2 after months of telling him to do so (to ICS but now JB is around, might as well go with that). Is JB officially out for the GS2 yet (he is with O2)? I have put CM10 on another GS2 but would rather do it the normal way if I can this time.

Not yet, no. I tried the leaked JB ROM and it was good, but I wouldn't give it to someone to use permanently when the official release of it is just round the corner.
