****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Samsung only updated their website with JB details for the GS2 last week.

Hopefully we are only weeks away from Samsung releasing it. But then if it's carrier locked you have to then wait for them to roll out the updated. So maybe by Feb - March time frame sadly!

Screw it, will go with CM10 for now. My colleague hasn't noticed any problems/bugs with hers since updating a few months ago.

Jelly Bean 4.1.2

Yes, I flashed the new JellyBean 4.1.2 ROM about a week ago and I'm still getting aquainted with it. :D

Chaps,

I've had my S2 for a wee while now and im currently running Neatrom which is JB 4.1.2.

I've never sent or received and MMS message before and for some reason I cant download/open small picture my brother sent.

I hit 'download' and it just says 'downloading' for ever, nothing actually happens. My using Handscent messaging app bit it does the exact same thing with the default phone messaging app.

I'm on 3 with their 'SIM 100 1 month' and I am meant to be able to send and receive MMS as far as i know. I've checked my APN settings and they look correct to me.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

If it's like the joke ICS roll out then network specific firmware will be out way before generic unlocked handsets

I'm using an old Rootbox JB ROM and it's been great. Recently changed from Siyah kernel to Dorimanx as earlier version of Dori were carp! Now it seems they're spot on.

cheers mate. I'll be using this method:

(install via stock recovery)

Recovery (.zip) packages instructions - Will also root your phone * recommanded method *

They come in the form of -signed.zip files that can be flashed in stock recovery 3e: No Yellow Triangle

Download xxx-signed.zip kernel matching your ROM
Put the previously downloaded xxx-signed.zip file on your external sd card
Boot into stock recovery (volume up+home+power)
Select "apply update from external storage".
Now select the xxx-signed.zip file you copied in previous step
You are rooted + new PhilZ-cwm6 kernel with CWM6

Vol+ ;)

Yeah, it's a different kernel, but if he's using it to flash other ROMs it doesn't make much difference tbh, it will be overwritten with whatever kernel is in the custom ROM he flashes :). Like when I used to root using Siyah/Ninphetamine (or maybe it was just Siyah, can't remember if Ninph used to root too :p).

Edit: And PhilZ is basically a stock kernel:
PhilZ Kernel said:
Pure stock kernel (only ramdisk changes)
