**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S9/S9 Plus Thread ****

It's the 3rd parties who choose which ASIN to sell against. About 5 years ago I bought about 10 Chinese Android tablets basically to get myself a free one and listed them against the same model and some other reseller sent me a really crappy email saying that ASIN was their own copyright (lol) because they created the original listing. If companies are selling grey imports without UK plus or something then you can complain that they aren't the same model/item.

Again.. my bad, I didn't mean to say Amazon listing against UK ASINS... although I do have direct evidence of Amazon themselves sourcing stock that isn't UK and then selling it as UK, similarly they do occasionally list against duplicate ASINs which is infuriating...

That business.... awesome as a customer, a living hell as a supplier.

I have been resisting buying a premium branded phone for a long time now but since I broke my Lenovo p2 Ive been looking for a replacement.

Initially I planned on getting an Honor 10 for £400 but I seen the S9 on Vodafone today for £23 per month so I ordered on. I wish it was an s9 plus but I can certainly make do with the standard 9.

A shame the battery life is gonna be crap in comparison.

I also spotted the Vodafone S9 deal on hotukdeals, I was going to resist but it was such a good deal. I am going to give my wife the 4G 4GB contract sim card and PAC out her old contract, that will save her £11 a month. I will then have the phone and sell my Huawei P9 lite. It would be rude not to take advantage of this good deal. I haven't ever had a Samsung phone, but it will just be a heavily skinned Android Oreo.

I received the handset yesterday. At £23 a month its a great having a high end phone. Topcashback only tracked as 10 quid so I'll be appealing that.

Waiting for a spigen case for it because its very slippy to hold! (ooer)

Latest security patch along with some updates just appeared, approx. 335MB in total. Now on BRE3/BRE5 version. SIM free phone on Vodafone.

Took my S9 out to work today. Its first real outing since getting it. Managed to get a hairline scratch on it already. It was in an empty pocket the whole damn time and I was careful.

The small scratch is exactly where I would swipe the screen with my thumb. Prior to this I was using an old Note 4 and that thing is barely marked after around 4 years without a case.

How frustrating.

Done that to my s8 soon after getting it, just took advantage of £300 Samsung trade in to s9+ and first thing I did was put on a wet applied screen protector and a terrapin case.

I dont care what they say, screens are made of cheese. Had an s7 previously and it was fine after a year in only a bumper case so they dont seem to be improving.

Glad i moved, battery on s9+ much better and after a day the s8 seemed so small

Found out the S9 (and possibly the S8) uses a different corning glass* than the S7 era which explains the scratches I've quickly gained whereas 2 years of S7 without a protector which had pretty much none.

Too late to put a protector on mine but would thoroughly recommend it to all those who still have a clean screen or are considering buying an S9!

* I think it's the material that's changed to be more drop/crack resistant due to the larger surface area but is prone to micro scratches more as a result.

So bit the bullet and got the s9+ as an upgrade from my s7. Managed to negotiate a reasonable deal in my eyes with EE who are my current provider. 0 handset cost, standard unlimited calls and texts and 30gb data for 45 a month, Ordered 3pm yesterday and arrived at 11am today.

Had a 30 min haggling session with the EE rep as the company i obtained my current contract through made me some reasonable offers and put the rep against those plus a offer i made up.

Any recommendations on best case and screen protector for the s9+

Sorry but that's an awful deal.

I've gone for fabric cases (s9+ and on my P2XL)

Not really fussed what you think lol

Only better deals i saw was with O2 ~£43 a month for similar data and about £40 upfront or £38 a month with 130 upfront.

I get to keep my number without having to transfer it. No upfront cost which is what i wanted and a reasonable monthly charge.plis i have iasues with O2 from a contract they ****** me with years ago. Most contract prices either want a wad upfront or are 50 quid plus.

Im happy thats what matters

The s9 is available at £33 a month on EE. Free handset, 30gb data, unlimited calls and texts. Would have snapped it up but I'm happy with my Note 8.

That's strange. I've treated my S8 like dirt, dropped it numerous times, face first onto a coated metal bar, across laminate, etc. Not a single mark to be seen. The case is one of those that might as well not be there.
