** The Official WWDC 2012 Thread **

With the iPhone, I just hope they don't make it too large. There are some phones that are starting to look more like freakin' tablets than phones. In the mobile industry, we've gone from bricks, to small tiny little phones, and now we're getting bigger again :p

even the s2 i had was pushing it IMO , didnt look too big , didnt feel too big in my pockets , but i had some awfully awkward moments browsing things with my thumb and after a while you certainly notice the strain compared to not having to stretch at all

and i have large hands so god knows how little people manage. two handed i guess

Yeah exactly - People holding phones two handed... it'll look like a kid playing with a toy :p

Exactly :D I'm merely saying that we don't have any proper evidence yet. When we really starting seeing what we should be getting, that is when we can really get excited. :)

I can't help but get excited the closer we get to WWDC. There will be some big announcements that's for sure :)

The note, lol. That's no phone.

I think the iPhone is the perfect size for comfort, my thumb can get anywhere on the screen with ease. I had the Galaxy S, I think that was 4". I couldn't imagine using any bigger screen, 3.7 - 4" I think would be nice. I think it should be made a bit bigger for sure.

The 4.3" 16:9 format is perfect for me. Similar width to the iPhone for one handed typing etc but 20mm longer for landscape use.

Wonder if they'll ever do a 'wide screen' iPhone? :D

9to5mac.com have just reported the next gen iPhone is likely to have a 3.9in display, as well as increasing the resolution so it can play 16:9 videos natively :)

9to5mac.com said:
Apple is testing multiple next-generation iPhones, and we have independently heard that at least one of these devices sports a brand new display.

Apple’s iPhone display went mostly unchanged from the first iteration of the iPhone to the third, but for the iPhone 4, Apple took the iPhone display to new heights with the incredible 640 x 960 Retina Display. The display has always been 3.5 inches measured diagonally and a 3:2 aspect ratio. All of that is about to change.

Whether or not we'll be seeing any of this at WWDC is to be seen. Personally, I think we'll see iOS 6.0 previewed, but no new iPhone hardware will be hinted at... yet :p

I'm really looking forward to the next iPhone and iOS, though I don't expect to see it at WWDC, as nice as that would be. The 3.9" screen and resolution both make sense. 4"~ size is absolutely fine.

Apple have the opportunity to knock everyone else out of the ballpark when it comes to the hardware side of things at least, I doubt they'll tempt the new age of Android lovers back... but you never know.

Indeed - A 4" screen should be great, anything over is a little bit overkill in my book.

Well the S2 has a 4.3" screen and ive never liked it, always thinking it's too big (as nice as the screen is) it hurts as I only have small hands, it's why I've always favoured the IP4.

I reckon a 4" would be absolutely perfect

Side note, I'm keeping a close eye on these iMac specs. If they release one with a ridiculously nice spec in 27" form. Then I think I'll go for one, sell my Mac Pro (as I can't see them updating anytime soon, or atleast until I've spanked out on an iMac) and use the money from that to build a file server.

One of the main reasons I've needed a Mac pro is internal drive usage, a proper file server negates that need.

Plus iMac's look nice enough to lick.
