*** The Official Xbox One Thread ***

Maybe it’s better on the next gen console, but it’s not great in the One X.

That's a shame but will give it a try myself.

I've been using nvidia gamestreaming with my shield which works ok but my system struggles to do it with some of the more recent titles. I can play them on the pc but I want to play forza in the living room hence the purchase of the xbox one x.

Is it's main focus LGBTQ and transitioning from female to male? I only ask because it was literally the first thing the Eurogamer review mentioned before I stopped reading, although that wasn't the reason I stopped reading.

So I'm after some advice... The family and I are going to have to move out of our home due to extensive water damage from the hot water cylinder which means that the rackmount setup for gaming PCs etc. will not come with us.. It could be up to 3 months while they fix significant parts of the floor, bathroom, kitchen and I was originally going to hold out for the newier Series X/S but then I got wondering, the X will be ~$1000NZD where as I can pick up a used One X for ~380-400NZD as a stop gap a) for having something to do when we move out and b) for the kids (4 and 7) if I then decide to pick up a Series X later on.

So basically the TL/DR version, is the one X still useful for the next couple of years?

Edit: Has there been any thoughts on how long the one X will get new games for? How long after the Xbox One was released did the 360 still get stuff made for it?

It will still play all games i believe, the plan is for all games to work across all console versions, with upgraded graphics, FPS and sound ? across the different console versions.
So worth getting , if its only a stop gap then there are plenty of games available that will last you a long time, games pass etc

Some games are Series X exclusive (console) so they won't be getting a release on the One/One X. The Medium instantly springs to mind, I would imagine there will be more.

Not sure if they are timed exclusive though? Possibly, would feel a bit weird to do a timed exclusive within the same console family :/

If you're needing something to play games, then absolutely, the One X is very good. It likely will be for a while too with the age of your children.

As always, there isn't going to be a wealth of games on the SX at launch, but for those which are on both consoles, you're not missing out on a wealth of new features or hidden levels of detail going from One X to SX, as a number of games are already enhanced for the X. :)

Appreciate the replies... I look at the one x;s on our local NZ auction site and then I almost hit the buy now button and then go hmm should I wait but then if I only get a Series S/X I wont' actually get to play due to the kids taking over anyway... all they want is minecraft, roblox, rocket league, lego games and other kid fun filled activities...

So I'm pretty happy, picked up a One X with two controllers, double controller charging system, 2 games and external 2TB hard drive for $300NZD. Console is a little under 2 years old but it looks mint and its perfect to keep me entertained while we move out of our house & also for the kids once I get a series X!

Also tried remote play, its not actually that bad... was as fluid as if using it but clearly the encoding quality wasn't as good as what I use on my PC... I suspect that given MS are running xCloud using Series X's, the Series X will have much better encoding. Going to try streaming to one of my Android TVs and see if that makes a difference to the quality as I was playing on my Windows 10 enterprise table via a targus unit to external monitors so its not as good as native output due to the virtual displays.

Finally, is there a good website to track digital game prices? I used to use gamestracker but that appears to have fallen over; I'm not concerned about retail value as I tend to keep them forever... I know about CDkeys etc. I'm just looking for a similar site to isthereanydeal.com.

Yeah I tried remote streaming to my media pc but even on very high the picture quality isn't great, think the xbox struggles to capture the stream like you say so the detail gets lost in the encode.

Still for £180 this refurb looks brand new, nice hefty heatsink in these and it's pretty much silent. Impressed so far, Forza Horizon 4 seems much smoother than my pc despite that playing at 60fps. The controller quality has gone downhill since the 360 though, plastic feels very cheap.

Anyone tried the cheap brazil live codes to convert to gamepass ultimate recently?

My hope is that the Series X really improves in this space, I use Parsec for game streaming on my Pc using a GTX1070 and its quite good so I think the Series X will be much improved since Xcloud is using Series X machines in rackmount setups; I need game streaming as I don't have access to the lounge TV at all times but I do have access to wired windows laptops and bedroom tv with an nvidia shield.

Xbox One X arrived finally yesterday, even got a slight refund as was a bit late

so far impressed, literally the refurb looked brand new, and I've only played Halo 5 so far - but seems more PC like, as in doesn't feel laggy, "foggy graphics" and soft looking like my Xbox One did

very pleased for the money

oh and same as for Puzzled, seems near silent to me even in games :)

Good to hear. I did the 36 months of Brazil Gold to Gamepass ultimate deal so I'm now sorted until 2023, works out at about £2.30 a month :D

I played on an Xbox one a while ago but it just felt under powered, this however is great and has made me consider buying a Series X once some games have been made to prove what the new system can do.
