Fergie Has Money To Spend, Says Glazers
Sir Alex Ferguson will be given the money he needs to turn Manchester United back into a trophy-winning force, according to the Glazer Family, who own the club.
United have been linked with players such as Mahamadou Diarra and Juan Roman Riquelme will have to spend big if they are to close the gap between themselves and Chelsea, but it seems Ferguson will be given the chance to do so.
"If Sir Alex Ferguson really wants a certain player then the Glazers would be willing to push whatever button required to get that player," a spokesman for the Americans told The Manchester Evening News.
Following the Glazer's takeover the club fell into debt, but this apparently won't affect Fergie's transfer kitty.
"The debt has no bearing on expenditure," said the spokesman. "The money available for the transfer budget comes out of cash flow from the club. There is cash around and a portion of that can go towards transfer fees.
"Of course the only way to demonstrate that to the fans is by spending money during the summer for the players the manager identifies. We will have to wait and see what happens on that."
