The Rumour Mill, who do you want/think your club will sign/sell this summer

Just been reading the papers, Man Utd supposedly looking at Carrick and Gattuso, Chelsea looking for a buyer for Del Horno and D'Alessandro wants to stay at Portsmouth

obviously not the most reliable of sources but both carrick and gattuso were linked with Man Utd in todays sun.

apparently gattuso as the ball winner (what else ? hardly a ballet dancer !) and Carrick as our new midfiled general for around £10million.

hmm gattuso yes, Carrick not so sure havent seen enough of him.

Gattuso - unknown quantity in EPL but has played at the highest level
Carrick a bit lightweight for me. Unproven at the highest level.

gattuso wouldn't take much time getting used to the premiership, he's a fighter and will love the rough and tumble. Whereas when we signed veron........ well i dont think i need to say anymore.

Carrick would be a good signing too.

Carrick has a bit of the "Butch" Wilkins about him. Not the best ball winner but not afraid to put his foot in either. Good on the ball and technically very good. Stories I have heard include Ruud going the other way

I think its his beard tbh

I would prefer another good young English midfielder who can tackle

Reo Coker me thinks

A lot of people have mentioned a lot of Newcastle players to leave, but to be honest I can't see many of them going.

Bramble will stay as he's been playing resonably well with Moore, and every coach who manages him will always think "If only I can get him to cut out the errors I'll have a great player on my hands here....."

Boumsong has apparently had talks with several Italian clubs after being told, in no uncertain terms that he has no future at the club.

Babayaro? Who's going to buy him and pay his ridiculous wages? He's on about 50k or more a week and no one in their right mind would give him that. Our only hope is that Souness gets back into management sooner rather then later.

Unfortunately I can see Milner going to Villa, which is a pity because I think he'd do well under Roeder. A lot depends upon Villa raising the cash and O'Dreary still being there in the summer.

I think Owen will stay for another year. Not sure why.

Chopra, off to the First division and will eventually end up at Blyth or Carlisle, a promising career ruined because he wasn't given the chance early enough.

Ameobi, will stay at St James', probably working a gate or selling programmes.

Carr will also stay. No other premiership side will be in for him.

Not sure about Bowyer, his out was going to be Charlton, but since they are getting a new manager then all bets are off there. I like Bowyer as a player, he can add a bit of fire to a midfield.

I am worried about Emre. I really think that he's going to do a runner or just spend the next season sulking on the treatment table with Luque. I reckon Luque will stay as well. I know Roeder doesn't rate him, but I don't think he'll be given the option to sell him at a massive loss. I really hope Luque comes good because he looked fantastic in Spain.

As for players in, with Roeder at the helm I can't see us getting any big names like that ditch feller whose name I can never spell. Begins with K an you all know who he is.

Roeder is however, making all the right noises about properly researching signings and ensuring they can adapt to life in England, the North-East, and the EPL rather than just using Champ Man as a scouting tool. That's another reason why I don't think we'll see any big movements, Roeder is going to take his time about picking the right players. Whether they will be good enough remains to be seen.

Instead I reckon Roeder will bood more and more players from the youth teams like Matty Pattison and Alan O'Brien. That might not be a bad thing, but I don't think you'll win anything with kids......

Emre can go for me like , still dining out on his winner against the mackems.
Decent player but rubbish away from home.

I think if we get a decent offer Milner should go.

I disagree about Chopra , cant cut it at all.

That's my point exactly. We should never have given him the one year extension because he's not even close to being a Premiership player. He should have been given a shot years ago, but now he'll never make it at this level.

i know. would like us to buy Shittu from QPR if he does, but can't see the board/manager having the foresight to buy a decent defender to replace our only decent defender! Will be some 35 year old who was going to retire from the Unibond league knowing Hoddle

Man Utd

Sell:
Fletcher
Fortune
Silvestre
O'Shea
Miller
Saha
Richardson
Evra (Unimpressed with what I have seen so far)

Hopefully:
Ballack
Gattuso
Any strong holding midfielder

They need to be ruthless and invest some money into the midfield desperately. They also need to change that new sponsor, it's gonna look terrible on the new shirts :D
