The Rumour Mill, who do you want/think your club will sign/sell this summer

I wanted us to sign Carrick when he was at West Ham

Fergie isn't quick enough to capture quality English players from West Ham. I actually thought Cole and Defoe would have been ideal for United. Carrick, i'm not sure about. I'm not sure he's the ball winner we need.

I'd get rid of Saha and sign a young, upcoming striker (havn't a clue who). I'd also then have Rossi as our 3rd striker. Ruud still has a lot more to give. It would be a big mistake to sell him.

edit//

Fletcher MUST go. He offers nothing to the team except mediocrity.

I'd also get rid of Ferdinand should a suitable offer come in. He's vastly over-rated in my opinion.

Isn't his buyout clause £100m
I don't know to be honest but JM was in Brazil last night watching Corinthians v River Plate in that big cup of theirs. He wasn't watching any particular player of course, he went all that way just to watch the match;)

Do you think we really need ball winners in the traditional Keano or Vieira mold. I think the game has moved on a bit from the Midfield enforcer role. Alan Smith is a competent ball winner but is never going to set the world on fire as an attacking force.

Problem we have is that since Becks left and more recently Royston we have had nobody to dictate and control the rythm and pace of our game. Carrick would be a competent player for us

I think so.

We are completely lacking any sort of aggression all over the pitch. It time we made teams scared of playing us once again. The current team has too many 'lightweights' in it at the moment. It may be too late in the day to sign a player like Gattuso though.

Ideally I'd like to see us buy Gattuso and then a strong young CMF who's going to stay the course. As has been said earlier I think Scott Parker would be a good option as from what I've seen of him he has shown some real ingenuity on the ball. If he was given enough starts I half wonder if he could be an English Fabregas.

Hopefully we take advantage of signing a player/s BEFORE the world cup rathr than after and get messed about with agents as we usually do. Transfer Window opens just after the Champions League final I believe

We definitely need a defensive minded player in midfield, I really wouldn't say no to someone from the Keane mould if they exist. I think Carrick would be good but then again there will be no quality player alongside him unless we get a player like Gattuso or Diarra as well.

Has anyone heard the rumour about why Ruud and Fletcher have not featured much in this latter half of the season? It could be a lot of balls but I'd really love to believe it. Well it's no secret that Ruud can be a lazy so-and-so in training when he wants to be, and he's had verbal arguments with Keane and Ferdinand before. Apparently Fletcher had a pop at him during training one day, saying something along the lines of not pulling his weight. Ruud doesn't take it too well, especially coming from someone like Fletcher, so he has a go back at him. They both exchange compliments..... Then they get into a proper fist fight and Ruud sparks him out with one punch.

Ferguson dishes out a 5 match ban as punishment, Ruud throws a strop and takes it really badly. They fall out. Ruud rots on the bench, Ferguson is not too pleased with the way Ruud has taken his punishment and is now unofficially for sale. Fletcher is no longer Ferguson's prodigy and has been sitting on the bench a lot with no real explanation given.

If it's true, it would explain a lot of things. God, I would love to punch Fletcher.

I heard that rumour also along with the reason for RVN being dropped was for his display at Anfield in the FA Cup. Gave a right rollocking to him "You don't come to a place like this in the cup and not chase down defenders with 5 mins to go and your 1-0 down. You owe more to the club, ths fans and yourself for that" Mixed in with a good selection of expletives for good measure

So Ruud gets punished for doing what every man U fan has wanted to do all season ? :)

Yay,we're keeping Robbie.Hope he gets fitter and keeps away from Rafas' pie stash over the summer

That could be another reason, but I think something has been lurking there between them for a while now and any excuse to put him down will be used by Ferguson. I would put Ruud's behaviour down to frustration at the crap tactics and team selection Ferguson has forced upon him and the team. Ruud wasn't the only player who wasn't arsed against Liverpool. The Times had a good article during the week about his penalty miss, here's a quote from it:

Van Nistelrooy was by no means United’s only disappointing performer, but he was singled out by Ferguson, who called the penalty a “bad miss” and corrected a reporter who claimed that it was uncharacteristic, pointing out that “he has probably missed about half a dozen” spot kicks over the past three years.

I'm not defending RVN, he can have a disruptive influence on the team but I don't think our management style these days is helping him at all. Ferguson after that match was the one being uncharacteristic, he may say such and such a player had a bad game but to bring up a statistic during an interview about a player he has dropped to the bench means it's been on his mind for a while. Nail in the coffin.

Only took 5 years to work that out? Some of us have never rated him ;)

This gave me a chuckle , from todays BBC gossip column.

Marian Pahars will not get a new deal at Southampton and started crying when he was told by the club. (Independent)

Certainly has simmilarities between Veron & Beckham in the way he is being treated. Although he never came out and criticised Seba. I wonder if UTD's scouting network is actually Martin Ferguson and some other sap playing football manager 2006 and they file a report once a week.

"Here gaffer I got this lad playing in Iranistan. Cracking header of the ball, Good feet for a big man and pretty pacey. I hear we can get him for £100,000"

LOL. I read it too, and your post still made me laugh.

Forest - I have absolutely no idea what'll be happening at the City Ground. Depends on if we go up, if we keep Frank and Ian or replace them, player's expectations/moods. I would like to see a few leave and the door hit them on the ass on the way out though.

The similarities are scary. I don't think Ferguson criticised Veron because it was his own fault, he bought the player expecting him to deliver and he didn't. Any negativity shown towards Veron would have only highlighted Ferguson's initial mistake in buying him.

Beckham and RVN both got on the wrong side of Ferguson, and there really is no return from that, instead of trying to help RVN, Ferguson has focused his belief and confidence into Saha as our main striker. He made his mind up months ago about whether RVN is going this summer, and he won't admit that in public because of the backlash he would get from some Man Utd fans.

It's a sorry state of affairs, I can understand why RVN is frustrated, his strengths as a striker have not really been played to since Beckham went, he has changed his game slightly especially during the start of this season partnered with Rooney and there was a big improvement in his confidence, he really does love Rooney up front with him.

Even if he didn't want to leave, can you imagine how crap you would feel turning up to training knowing your manager and some of the players don't like you, you get relegated to the bench sitting alongside the likes of Fletcher, your manager singles you out for criticism during a period when your confidence and morale are at an all time low. My own criticism for RVN would be the way he has handled the whole thing, there are two ways I see this unfolding, 1) you get depressed, feel sorry for yourself or 2) you think to yourself, I'm going to prove this guy wrong, stick two fingers up at him and put in 110% every chance you get. RVN has not done this unfortunately and I would put it down to the situation being allowed to get to such a sorry state that he doesn't have the belief in himself to carry on as a Man Utd player. I wish him all the best when he goes this summer. :(
