The Tesla Thread

They are about £650 plus how ever much it costs for someone to fit it.

If you buy a car you can get a grant but you have to get a ‘smart charger’ (not a Tesla one) so it’s about £350 for a straight forward install.

There isn’t much servicing and there is to traditional schedule (no oil, plugs etc). It’s covered in Tesla’s site, I think anything they list is only a recommendation and doesn’t effect your warranty if you don’t do it.

You can diy air filters easily. Brake fluid is the same as a normal car. You can get an MOT anywhere and it’s much easier than an ICE as there is no emissions. Parts can be expensive but it’s a £40k car so that’s expected.

Edit: here

So basically nothing.

Anyone know how much the charge points are ? Also how much servicing is?

And could you take this car to the local gargae or would it have to be specialist in electric cars

Tesla "charger" £460 then get quotes for fitting as it has a higher/costlier requirement for protection circuitry. Servicing on the Tesla website as mentioned they tend to recommend servicing schedules rather than have a fixed one.

Normal garage can work on the "normal" car parts though best to stick to Tesla service centres when under warranty. No OBD2 port as that's only required for emission testing so diags a bit more tricky to access.

Just an FYI but I received a minor software update. Phone alert woke me so I initiated it :)

been using new polishing pads on Das 6 pro machine and all finished this morning. Then the wipe down with prep. done 2 coats of Mohs and left it for the day. probably about an houru per coat as it was my first time but went on really easy. will do the final layer of Skin tomorrow after work. its all looking rather fine now and buffed up nicely. will need to clean up the glass again and take pics. driving old car to work for a couple more days before selling to we buy.

then its the home rolec charger install on Thursday.

£500 annual premium with LV.

Looks ok as they offer some good extra's including
  • Recovery if you run out of charge to the nearest charging station (doesn't affect your excess)
  • Electric car accessories including cables and home charger damage etc.
Just phoning to check they are ok with my current ongoing claim on my golf getting fixed. I did input it into the quote but want to check directly with them. Estimated £3k damage!!! Unreal....Small bump in a garage but cars just crumple these days so bumper/wing/headlight/headlight washer need replaced plus some paint work etc.....

Things to try. Add another car my i3 on the same policy reduced the policy by about £25 for both cars! Add a named driver and if they are low risk it may help. Check your job title and see if anything similar but still correct has an affect. May only be £5-10 but everything helps.

Now the i3 has gone I'm considering a cheapy Peugeot 106 diesel to drive during the worst of winter. I had tons of fun in one before with only 48HP and skinny tyres.

Oh please God no! PDS system fitted to Tesla cars.

My EST loan money better arrive this week......REALLY don't want to be delaying my car pickup if I can help it.

For those that have car - when did you get registration details?? LV won't insure without reg, they won't do a VIN number. Did you get a call with the details?

They will contact you the day before collection with the registration. I got a call at 15:30, my appointment was 13:00 the next day.

I had no contact after the initial confirmation of finance right up to the day before collection. Phone the sales number as they should be able to cross reference from your VIN.

Thanks - randomly about 10 minutes after i posted above - I got a text from Tesla saying registration 24 hours before and final invoice 48 hours before.

churchill for me just gave the VIN without any issues to setup payment. Got the call on Monday with the Reg from Tesla. Pickup on Thursday
