The Tesla Thread

Yes, still works. Just as long as your expectations are set on what these autonomous systems can/can't do though - even with the Tesla you can't put a post code in and expect it to drive you there, at least not until FSD comes to the UK and I can't see that happening for years and years, if ever.

Oh no, I don't expect that. Just something to make my life easier when driving places I don't know. Assume it's still dual carridgeways and motorways at the minute? I just don't want to have to remember a load of button presses and settings more than anything else I'll not use it.

Today is the day! Fingers crossed for a car without any issues. Pictures to follow after 14:30 :)
Have you already spotted the vehicle in the car park yet? :D

When I got dropped off at Cribbs Causeway by the taxi driver we went straight past the whole car park and I could see mine parked there. I actually checked it out before I went in to the Tesla store and sorted collection.

All done and dusted, no issues that I could find, even the notorious panel gaps are ok. The only issue I had was poor SoC when collecting, and the Superchargers at the Trafford Centre are still (after 12 months) not connected to the grid. Apparently Trafford Centre Tesla only have 3-pin charging available so poor SoC is common. I had 26%~ when I left, stopped at Stockport Supercharger on the way home.

So the replacement Model 3 I’ve ordered has now jumped from an estimated Nov 22 to June 18 - July 16th delivery!

I guess the boat with all the Model Ys on it also has some model 3s ;)

Tomorrow is the day ( I think )

It has taken a lot of fannying around to get here though.

I ordered my car in December with a March ETA.
In mid February I get a date for 21-28 March collection at Manchester. I thought it was a bit late but that's fine.

Then at the end of February my ETA changed to May-June :< I called CS a few times but apparently there is nothing they could do.
So I randomly decide to have one last go at online chat on the 28 Feb and surprisingly the agent said that they had an inventory stock of a matching car at Newcastle. ETA changed to 5-13 March and got a VIN :)

However the date started slowly slipping eventually to 21-39 March
I messaged chat a few times over the past 2 weeks and usual fobbing off saying you will get an update automatically.
So on Friday I decided to give CS a call (90 minute wait). It turned out that the car had been sat in Newcastle waiting for me to pick up, but the system still said collection at Manchester so the order was in limbo. >_>
On Monday evening I was offered a collection on any date after the 16 March at Newcastle and given a reg NJ22. Great!

Then I got a text saying collection at Manchester??!?? So I called on Tuesday morning and this guy was the most confused person I've spoken to. He said that there had been a mix up and the Newcastle branch was closing so my car was getting moved to Manchester and would be ready to collect on the 24 March.....?? Then gave me a new reg YK22
I am beyond confused now. So I use the Online chat again, told the agent all the conflicting information I've received over the past 24 hours, then this guy is confused as well, so says will need to get back to me. 6 hours later I get an email saying that collection is now definitely at Newcastle with reg YK22 any date after the 17th.

So I have spent today and yesterday confirming using both online and on phone that I will have a Model 3 LR to pick up at Newcastle on the 18th.

Then at 7pm this evening I get a text saying my Model Y collection is ready for tomorrow. FML.
I've given up, train is booked, let's see what happens... Q_Q

That sounds atrocious, good luck @Infiniteey

I’ve run into my first problem. The USB-C flash drive (SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Go 256GB) is just not seen in the front centre console USB ports (where the owner’s manual tells me to use). I’ve formatted the drive as exFAT (again, as the manual tells me to do), but it never shows up in the media player.

They may not be wired for data access, only charging due to parts shortages. You should probably contact Tesla and ask.

Thanks, I will keep you guys updated

I wouldn’t bother contacting Tesla about the USB. Newer cars don’t have data enabled front USB ports and you can check this in car. They say this is due to parts shortages.

If you have the sonic game, your ports are data enabled, if you don’t, they are not. Allegedly they are adding Bluetooth controller support and when that happens the missing games should come to those that don’t have them.

For music etc. it’s as said above, you need to use the glovebox USB. You’ll need to partition the drive with one for Tesla cam and the other for music if you want to use both.

The cynical side of me thinks it’s also a cost cutting measure (E.g. a replacement data part is more expensive) and the software hasn’t caught up yet.
