The Tesla Thread

The car looks very nice @paradigm - I do like the red ones a lot, and even the dark wheels don't look bad on a red car.

@Infiniteey if you hassle them enough they will agree to a home delivery. My car was at Bluewater which would have been a 4 hour round trip at least, maybe more as the car was only at 25% battery when I got it with 8 miles on the clock.

The problem I’ve got is that I have already tried a partitioned drive, and whilst it “works” (as in USB displays in media player), it’s choppy, like the port doesn’t have enough throughput (it’s not the drive, which is an NVME in an enclosure capable of 300MB/s on USB 3.0, 700MB/s on USB-C 3.2).

Do you have to pay for home delivery? and who's best to contact at Tesla? We live miles away from the nearest collection point

I just phoned the 01628 number that is mentioned on the website when you order, option 4 and then said I'd like home delivery because I have a dodgy back and a 4 hour round trip wouldn't be great. It was free.

Here it is boys!!! Isn't she glorious. Panel gaps all perfect!

Only two slight issues.
1. The valeting guy decided to use the blade attachment on the vacuum cleaner so scratched the microfibre door inserts, contacted Tesla service so they will get replaced.
2. Has the old style tail lights, meh, would have liked the new ones but no big deal as I probably never look at the back of my car again

How is that even possible? Did someone in the factory just find some old ones in a cupboard

The amount of cars shifting through the factory, they must have run out of them months ago.

I guess they are still manufacturing both from two different suppliers to keep up with demand?

Mine came with the ‘new’ lights and i picked it up 4 months ago.

Thank you, yea it really pops in the sun, I was surprised at just how different it is between direct sunlight and shade, anywhere from bright red to maroon!

And yes, it’s a Performance :)

How has your initial experience been with the car and dealer/aftercare?

What does it cost to 0-100% the battery?

Im tempted to test drive to scratch the itch, but I’m on the fence atm regarding full ev even though our home is fully suited to maximise the benefit of owning one.

@Vita - The dealership where I test drove (Stockport) was great, couldn’t do enough for me and completely pressure-free, no push to purchase just a push to get me to drive another car whilst I waited for the Performance to turn up.

The pick-up was a bit… lacklustre, when I was scheduled, there were only another 3 customers (two in front, one behind me) yet it felt very rushed and not incredibly well co-ordinated. Manchester (Trafford Centre) still don’t have their Superchargers connected to the mains after a year of waiting for them (apparently), which means the only form of charging available to them is 3-pin, as a result all the cars are delivered to the customer with minimal charge, as such I had to divert on the way home to the Stockport dealer in order to Supercharge. I managed to get onto a V2 supercharger that wasn’t being shared with another unit, thus pulled around 130kWh from it. Put around 61% into the battery (19-80%) which cost me a shade under £19, that would essentially mean a 0-100% charge would be roughly £30, but I can’t see many (any?) charges actually being 0-100, you never let the battery deplete to 0, and you rarely charge to 100 unless absolutely necessary.

At home the costs would be reduced, but I tend to limit the car to charging in the Octopus Go lower tariff window, so have only ever charged it for a few hours total thus far.

100% go for a test drive though, it can’t hurt and as said before is totally pressure-free.
