The Tesla Thread

Bot of an odd question, but does anyone ever view dashcam footage on a pc? I downloaded the Tesla vidal and the quality is shocking, I just wanted to get somebodies reg as it was '66 akn' and nobody is going to believe me without a picture  , the video is quite fuzzy even though it was a daytime clip.

I just use VLC and review it on there - looks fine to me.

It's an ssd that I use in the car. I've pulled the video, and this is a still from vlc player. What's wierd is some videos are really clear.

Just had an update this morning, buy now I'm getting an issue with navigation needing updating via WiFi. Also seemed to forget my WiFi networks so that was fun. I've got it on charge now, so hopefully it will sort itself out overnight. Strangley I didn't get the release notes popping up in the car, and the app on my phone says its at 100% (I.e. Still updating).

Mine was updating last night and asking me to connect to wifi this morning in the work carpark where there was none... That's normal.
Got home this evening and it finished updating and installed fine, it's just minor bug fixes anyway, nothing new.
2023.2.12.2
Phone app says steering wheel auto heat but car says minor bug fix.

I've only got a povety 19 plate with no wheel heating or electric tailgate :(:p. I got the release note when I started it this morning (although app seems to thing its still updating). I'm going to keep my eye on it as it seems to be turning wifi off sometimes so that's going to hamper any updates.

This is the message I get, ignore the others, apparently california must never get dark :p . I've done a full power off and I'm going to see what happens tomorrow as hopefully the car will just connect to the house WiFi and update. If not I'm going to create a service call but it just seems daft (although I suspect I'm not the only one).

I get cameras blocked or blinded every single morning as I live in the country with no street lights and leave the house at 6am, i know that feeling well.. autopilot still works though.
Goos luck with the nav issue, can't say I've ever had that!!

Yea I'll try it out later and see. The sc in Leeds are normally pretty good, so I'm hoping some update will just get pushed through if I make an appointment.

Think I've asked this before, but can't find the post.

Where have you guys had MOTs done? Any special considerations with a Tesla? Would normally just book Halfords Autocentre...

Mine went to Halfords, no issues.
Local Kwik Fit claimed they couldn't do them, some rubbish about their rollers not handling them.

What are the rollers for, testing handbrake? Maybe it was a 2wd vs 4wd thing (assuming yours was 4wd).

Not sure, the Halfords tester assumed it was was to do with the brake testing and the 4WD. Seems Halfords just take it a road test with a decelerometer if the car can't go on the rollers for whatever reason.
The confusing part is my previous Octavia vRS went to the same Kwik Fit branch for its first MOT and they had no issues with its 4WD, I can only assume that was because it was just part time 4WD instead of the AWD of the Tesla.

On a funny note, the values of used Model 3's have tanked so much mine (69 plate Long Range with Acceleration Boost) is currently worth less than the balloon payment for its 4 year PCP and its not even actually 1 year into the PCP. Not sure whether to laugh or cry.

Wow I just learned octavias come in 4wd, I always assumed that they only came in fwd. With values, I own my Model 3 (part exed old car and took a loan out) and I do check values as a laugh and it's pretty much halved recently but not sure why.

Most likely due to the recent price cut of new m3's

They dropped before the price cut and not gone much lower since.

It’s just a combination of supply and demand, a year ago, the wait list for a new one was 6+ months and they were selling for near new prices which was never sustainable when you can now get a new one in a few weeks.

A bunch of dealers got burnt buying over priced stock as the market was dipping, and now won’t pay much for them. The gap between the trade in price and selling price is huge at the moment.

Other stuff like Musk being a very controversial figure at the moment, electric prices and charging queues over Xmas are impacting prices. Most other electric cars have dropped significantly as well, it’s not unique to tesla.

Would owners consider a M3 (probably SR+) a worthy purchase from a value perspective, even with declining spec (no sensors, for example)? I know a lot of build quality issues are now sorted, but there still seems to be a background stigma of even the MIC models being of poor build quality vs the price.

Or more accurately, is the "ecosystem" in the integrated charging network and much better mobile app worth it over the competition and any remaining shortcomings in the car?.
