The Tesla Thread

When my lease is up on the ID4, I may go for a Tesla.
Colleague at work has not long purchased a 2nd hand one and he loves it.
TBH, the supercharger network and costs are a big plus for me.
Yep, Supercharger network is a massive plus - I've never yet queued at even the busier ones on main routes (like Gretna and Tebay on the M6 corridor), and then you get the behemoths like Rugby which has 28 charging points.

As a counter point though, my next car will definitely not be a Tesla :p

Worth noting too that you don't necessarily have to drive a Tesla to use the superchargers...of course there are some which are Tesla-only, but many which are open to all drivers
What is describe as ‘all the important T ones’ are all Tesla only - welcome break and moto services are all bar 2 Tesla only and it makes up half the network.

Edit: my next one may not be a Tesla either. It depends what the new model y brings, I need something with more range and/or faster charging for when I’m towing. The Y is fine but others now do it better (e.g. EV6 and Q6)

While I do wish I'd gone for the red instead of poverty white I had a question.

Firstly how did you get all 4 tyres done for £450, were they long longs?
Agree on the lane keeping, where I live on some of the back roads they can be narrow which means you have to go on the white line if a van is coming towards you. The car does not like it, and I'm always worried it will steer me into traffic.

National Tyres and Autocare had a 20% off deal at the start of the year, total price including mobile fitting was £437.57 (just checked the receipt) and they were Avon ZV7. They're wearing better and quieter than the OEM Michelins that came with it, thought I had a wheel bearing on it's way out with the OEMs.

That's the decision maker for us too. Supercharger network is spot on, never any issues or queuing.

Car passed the MOT with no advisories :)

Forgot to add battery degradation to my post..

Where did you get the degradation info? I'm 5 years in in February so you guys are amateurs
It’s from one of those apps that links into your Tesla API like Tessie.

It’s not accurate and is at best a guess and I think it’s based on how many miles the car reports in the cars display vs the % charge.

It just seems too cheap, I paid that for 2 on mine (although mine is the performance so tyres are bigger). The supercharger network is what made me go for Tesla over other EVs as it's pretty good and infrastructure is the only real issue when doing long distance.

The main negative I see is the build quality being poor, my top mounts are freaking again and they're only 18 months in/18,000 miles.

Quick look on National Tyres and a set of 4 Avon ZV7 for 499.96 'fully fitted'. Then minus the 15% discount and you're down to £424.97, that's £13 less than I paid for the same tyre earlier this year in Feb.

Been running these for 17k miles and approx half worn. No complaints.

I had a quick look, cheapest 20 inch is contis at 200 a corner. Explains the difference.

Why are you going on about VED?

It’s never applied to EV’s and the expensive supplement only applies to brand new EVs from April 2025 and you know that….

Great value add, it’s a post about historic costs….
He’s on about luxery car tax and you mentioned VED ? I’m not tescos.

I don’t really know what you are adding ‘why are you on about VED?’ When he clearly isn’t

If luxury car tax (the expensive car supplement per its actual name) is not VED then what is it?

P.S. it’s a component of VED…

This was confusing to read then. Don’t you mean VED only starts from April (including the expensive car supplement).

But yes jpaul getting it wrong yet again. I don’t understand how he can google so much and yet miss even more.
