If anyone is wanting a new VV&VW device, i can recommend the Ego Vamo/Vamo/Bamboo, all the same thing apart from the names, device will take 18650 batterys or single and stacked 18350's, there are 3 versions, chrome (cheapest) - black chrome (roughly same price) and the stainless steel one (about £10 more)..Its been tested all over the net and has come close to the Vmax and Zmax in terms of the output it can deliver.
Really has shown me that the Lavatubes i was using are so hit and miss, if i set them all to 3.7v, the 2 LT's i have barely produce a whisper, then the Vamo is producing clouds and overall the feel and quality of it is miles ahead, metal buttons etc, clear screen (same size as the Lavatubes)

My only thing i would say, ive had 2 Black Chrome Vamo's and the smoke layer has worn off within a few days, but underneath that its a plain chrome one, so you could possibly buff out of the rest.
Really is a good budget VV-VW device without spending close to £100.

Interesting, I am in the market for a new one as my LT threads are wrecked (I have a piece of paper stuffed in to keep my atty secure!). How much do they go for and where is cheapest?

24 quid is cheap! Well then, I may have to give it a go. What's the build quality like? My LT 2.1 is pretty rubbish. The tube is solid and the buttons work fine, but the threads going is just unforgivable.

The weight of the Chrome ones is immense, real hefty feel to it, as for the threads, it looks like a standard 510 connector we get on every other device, but so far no issues with the threads on mine, plus they are silver not the brass ones on the earlier LT's.

I'm pretty sure the threads on mine were made with balsa wood. They never fit very well (I had to buy an adapter to get my nova to fit)

No such issues on the vamo, nobody has reported bad threads and no horror storys of them stripping so far, the Vamo's skirt doesnt allow ce5's i think, you need an adapter to make them fit, apart from that everything fits nicely.

I'm sold. I'll be picking one up with my next paycheck

Ok I'm tempted to try these so which one do I buy ? Is it worth just picking one of the many that are laying about near the counter of the local store or should I get a decent one ?

It's definitely worth getting something decent, but that doesn't mean it has to be expensive. The over-the-counter jobbies tend to have poor battery life, unreliable automatic switches, and rubbish atomisers, which culminate in an unsatisfying experience. There's some info in the OP about different setups, but the product links may be dead by now.

I'm a big fan of these cartomisers (drip liquid into the wadding once a day and forget about it, replace once every two weeks or so)
http://www.ecigwizard.com/en/access...a-dual-coil-cartomiser-black-5ml-tornado.html

on a variable volt battery such as this (get two so you can use one while you charge the other)
http://www.ecigwizard.com/en/access...-650mah-variable-voltage-3-stage-battery.html

and then all you need is a charger
http://www.ecigwizard.com/en/access...usb-ego-riva-piper-rapid-battery-charger.html

and some liquid, which is just preference. After that it's just e-liquid and the occasional atomiser as running costs.

Can anybody tell me if there's an e-cig out there that will suit me?

I dont want to be messing around with filling carts up and replacing bits and pieces, having to do maintenance and the likes. I simply want an e-cig where I can buy a load of pre-filled carts, and just swap them out as and when. Granted this may be more expensive than self-filling, but I'm happy to pay for convienance.

I tried an e-cig during the early days, the constant faffing about with them is what put me off.

So if anyone can reccomend something I would be greatful :)

The bits I suggested above are as low maintenance as you could want. I pull the rubber mouthpiece out, drip some liquid into the cart until it looks slightly soggy, then put the mouthpiece on and vape away for the rest of the day. No dry hits, no fiddling. It takes all of 10-20 seconds to refill the cart and you only have to do it once a day (and I vape at my desk at work all day!). Plus, it gives you the choice of whatever flavour you'd like so you can mix it up when you get bored. I spent more time rolling cigarettes or looking for a lighter than I do charging batteries and filling cartos. Replacing dead cartos is only a matter of unscrewing it and screwing on a new one too.

If you're really set on something replaceable, there are still prefilled carts available for some types of atomiser, but the reason I keep coming back to those cartos is that they never have wicking problems, so I think it's not only cheaper, but easier and more satisfying to use them. I'm sure the chaps on here would be happy to spec something up if you don't feel like giving them a go though.

E: oops, looks like someone already did :p

Thanks for all the advice above :) I now have some reading to do!

See I enjoy smoking, I dont even really want to give up. However since vaping is a lot better for me than real smoke, I may as well make the switch for the New Year.

Point taken about rolling cigs, as long as it doesnt take any longer to roll cigs than it does to prep an e-cig, then im ok with that.

Well, if you can roll all the cigarettes you'd smoke in one day in less than 20 seconds, then you either don't smoke much or roll very very quickly! :p

The only time you would spend any longer filling a carto is the first time you fill it. The wadding is quite densely packed out of the packet so you drip it down the sides, wait for it to soak, drip some more, wait, until it stops soaking through. You want to make sure you let it soak through because the bottom can still be dry even if the top looks soaked. The whole process takes maybe a full minute or two and you might do that every 2-3 weeks depending on how much you vape or how quickly your favourite juice wears out the carto.

After that first fill the wadding expands and becomes more porous, so it soaks up the juice much quicker and can be done while walking down the street. It helps if your e-liquid comes in a squeezy bottle like the ones pictured above (I bought some empty ones for a few quid and decant mine into them), because you can literally just squirt it into the carto once or twice and screw the lid back on the bottle.

Cheers for the info! I'm really enjoying vaping to be honest, looking forward to trying my new flavours when they finally arrive from ecig wizard :p

Can anyone reccommend a really good grape cinamon-tobacco flavoured vape?

I don't know of one, but cinnamon tobacco sounds awesome! I'm a big fan of the House of Liquid El Toro range, with El Cigarillos being my fav so far. It has a very leafy natural tobacco flavour that doesn't really get old for me.

Currently vaping Totally wicked's gold standard blueberry which tastes exactly like blueberry pie-filling.

As for nic intake, I gradually went up to 18mg and stuck there because I wanted the extra throat hit, but having moved to a variable voltage device where I can control throat hit with extra volts, I recently dropped to 8mg and actually prefer it. I like to chain vape at my desk, so lower nic strength is a benefit there. You will find a balance with your device and personal habits that suits you.

I'd go for the itaste kit if I was choosing from those. Not a fan of the clearomisers as they don't wick very well with VG based juices, but most are predominantly PG anyway. Something to consider is that there's only one battery in the itaste kits, and you'll want two.

Thanks Crowort, i am now thinking i will get my GF a vision eGo starter kit (if she takes to vaping) from ecigwizard as it just seems less hasle with a longer life battery and a cartomiser that you can visually see how much is left. She is worried about being at work and having no battery left or nothing in the cartomiser.

Good choice. Get 2 batteries, that way she can always use one while the other charges (vital imo). I'm not a fan of the vision clearomisers, but loads of people rate them and they're certainly better than the little skycig carts.

There are loads of different liquids out there and finding the ones you like along with a nicotine strength that suits your use can take a while. Just buy little tester bottles until she finds her "all day vape"

Ordered myself a SS Vamo, 2 panasonic batts, and 5 new mega DC cartos. Ouch, my wallet! Still, with the help of the chaps at UKV I kept it all under £70. Hopefully this will last me a while! I think I may need to finally stock up on some nic base as well :( On my last bottle

Got the SS version from vapingthings and you can get the chrome version from vapourhut for less, 2 Panasonic 18650s from Apollo ecigs (ecr69 gives 25% off) which were dirt cheap and are apparently EOL so stock up if you need to replace yours.

stupid work computer wont let me edit my post.
i think i am going to order this
52mg nic 250mlfor £36.98 some no-nic PG from the same site then some flavor concentrates from flavourart.
cant wait to don a white jacket and look like a mad scientist in the kitchen,

I usually go with titanium/platinum ice for my nic base, as some stuff has a flavour to it, which doesn't always work with the juice you're making.

Self-made is where it's at. I would pick up some VG as well, or else you'll find that it'll be a bit on the harsh side with less vapour. I prefer big billowing clouds, (which VG is good for) although it isn't ideal for stealthing on the train.

Speaking of which, I was on the train home the other day and this bloke sat opposite me on the train (a northern rail employee no less) was stealthing away on an e-lite. I figured he'd back me up so I broke out my vamo and did my best to stealth, but ended up fogging the carriage out a bit.

The nic base is 52mg VG so will be diluted down to about 18mg i estimate with flavour and stuff it should be arround 65/35 PG VG mix
would you recomend getting some more VG to bring that up to around 50/50

That's about right actually. I use PG nic base so had just assumed you had done the same lol.

Well my kit came yesterday and im impressed, i havn't had a fag for 24 hours now, but more importantly i havn't wanted one.
i hope it continues.
now just to get my DIY fluids and get mixing.:D

Awesome, it takes a while to find your feet with e-cigs and get a routine going, but after 2 weeks or so you'll be settled in. And then you can start lusting after shiny new stuff you don't need!

This is so true. Just ordered my self an aga-t2+ from could9vaping. I already have a VH Genesis (DID clone) which works great but I keep cracking the poly tanks and while the metal tank works fine I like to see the juice. The aga-t2+ comes with a Pyrex tank and is only just over £20.

I'm really getting into mesh wicks. Everything I used to use seems pretty weak flavour wise now. It is a lot of hassle but when you get it to work the coil lasts ages and is so good.

I'm temped to try the new Kanger T3 Been hearing real good things about them. I like to have a pre-made about for the times 'everything is wrong'. I like boge cartos but they are far to small for me to use. These are big enough and could be a good backup.

Devrij did you get your Vamo yet? I'm still not 100% sure if it is the next mod for me. Wondering if to save up a little more and get something really nice. Then I think, well why? It is just a metal tube with a button and a chip in it why spend more? My V1 Lavatube is really on its last legs misfires all the time now and the end caps pop off.

I did, and I really like it. I had an issue at the start where it would misfire 50% of the time, but then I switched to wattage mode and it works perfectly (even when I switch back to voltage mode) so it seems to have been a firmware glitch. Feels excellent in build quality compared to my old LT. I put some panasonic batteries in which has really helped. My only issue is that the battery spring gets quite warm (lots of people have swapped it out for a low resistance hot-spring), but it's an easy fix if you can be bothered.

I can see myself using this indefinitely though :)

I started vaping all those years ago when it 1st hit the scene. Kept me off the fags for over a year and then fell back to the ciggies.

Just started vaping again, 3 weeks off the ciggies and been smoking my Screwdriver Mod and homemade USB computer passthrough mod.

Just ordered over £200 of kit from TW with 10 bottles of Juice and the new Odyesse mod.

Hopefully will keep me off the 35+ ciggies a day and easily recoup the cost in 1.5 months

Welcome back mate, there's lots of cool stuff out there now :) Let us know how you get on with the juice you picked up, I'm always after reviews on good liquids.

I need some new juice suggestions....

The two favourites I've bought in decent sized bottles are Watermelon and Strawberry both from TECC. Ive bought a pack of 5ml sample bottles from VapeEscape and quite frankly they were rancid, all had the same horrible background taste, Ive just got some more from the same company but this time from the Griswalds Gourmet range, and and this is also horrendous, all have a similar taste to Lockets, but sweeter and more sickly, even the fruit and menthol/mint flavours.

Im quite happy with menthol and fruit flavoured suggestions and perhaps something a little stranger, what do you reckon?

By the way, if anyone wants any of the crap I mentioned above you are welcome to it, if any madman is interested I'll give more details of the flavours I have, which doesn't really matter cos they all taste the same, BAD.

Cheers.

Give totally wicked's gold standard stuff a try. As much as Im not a fan of the company, I've been very impressed with that particular range. A friend gave me a go on his Melon flavour which was really nice, and I regularly vape the blueberry concentrate which tastes like pie filling

As for all the legislation, it just seems crazy to me. "what if vaping becomes the new smoking? People will get addicted and continue to use it!" Duh, but isn't that better than them continuing to smoke? It bloody IS a safer alternative! Tools.

Am I the only one you makes my own juice? Screw paying £12 for a bottle of 30ml pre-made stuff when I can make the same thing for a couple of quid. It's only three ingredients and it also means I can make it stronger or weaker as I see fit.

No you aren't. I think there are quite a few of us that do. The only pre-made I buy is the house of liquid stuff, and only because it is that damn good.

My Odyesse and liquid is at home waiting for me to unpack on Friday :)

Just got email from some jobs worth pointing out that company E-Cig policy is to treat them as normal cigs.

No point fighting it, contractor and no rights and the company is a very large global, so no chance. Just keep it descreet :)

Screw that, I'd have a chat with someone in the office. Think carefully about the way you want to present it, but if you explain the benefits (no breaks needed), and explain the lack of negatives (it's just water vapour, no smells) then you might get somewhere. If it's written in stone then so be it, but it's always worth a shot. I can't imagine leaving my desk to vape and losing revenue as a result.

I know how you feel. I'm still on the smok DC cartos, but they don't seem as consistent as they used to be (some seem to have rubbish performance and I just dump them). I've tried the vivi nova, but it doesn't wick that well with the stock heads. It's just tricky to find that balance of ease and performance

My beef with the Smok cartos is they hold lots of juice and tend to go off quicky. One minute it's fine, excellent even, next bog all vapour and or crap taste. Fed up of chucking £2.50 and some juice away so early when Boge cartos at about a quid last much longer and don't get rubbish flavour. I gave up on making my own juice for a bit, must get back into it.

Any rebuildables worth thinking about? Wasn't over the moon with the eGo Vision V3 tbh

It sounds like rebuildables are a giant PITA from all the stories of getting wicks and coils just right etc. I nearly bought one, but everyone who had one said "I love mine, but it will be the most frustrating thing ever" so I decided to leave it.
