Anyone have any input on this setup?

Looks good! The choice between the V2 and V3 vamos is a bit tricky. The V3 is superior in a couple ways (minor mostly), so that extra $8 is up to you. Both good kits though. The ego + nova combo would make a nice "out and about" kit for nights out, but if I'm honest I just pocket my vamo in mini-mode and have a spare batt in my pocket. Again, a personal choice, but it's hard to go back to 3.7V batts when you have tasted variable voltage!

As far as 18350 batteries for the mini mode, something like this would be perfect

Didn't spend much time digging for prices so you may find something UK based for similar.

Oh yeah, be sure to check the drop-down box is set to the right colour! I made the mistake of getting chrome when I wanted stainless steel!

Thanks Dev

"Note: Starting 7/8/2013, we're shipping the new version with 2*short extension tubes"

May hold off until then before I buy the vamo!

that way I can use small/big batteries and not bugger about with it too much.

I'll stick to my current ego for nights out when I don't tryst myself with the vamo and just throw throw the lot into a tobacco tin or something with foam padding.

Vamo V3 SS, 2/3 tanks, all PC instead of pyrex? (no idea what difference it would make in terms of vaping other than less cheap look) money saved than buying all the stuff listed before, I have a uk power lead for ps2's etc lying about still so shall use that too.

There are a select few juices (namely citrus, but there's a list here) that are known to crack polycarb tanks, but I've yet to have it happen to me.

I caved and bought:

Capella:
- apple pie
- caramel
- vanilla custard
- graham cracker
- (perfumers apprentice) Dulce de leche

I'm excited :D

Excellent! I'm steeping some apple pie, a few different vanilla custard recipes and some others at the moment. The hard part is waiting for the juices to steep!

I know, it'll kill me waiting. I was planning on an accelerated steep with the old hot water trick, then maybe leave them a couple days. What's your method?

Nice one Devrij, i take it u are going to make some vanilla custard?
If so can u grab a bottle of Perfumers Apprentice French Vanilla Deluxe? as it makes a big difference.

and Apple pie and custard?

Awesome, that should be very handy indeed!

Okay, pipe grips out... ****** head will not come off no matter how bloody hard I push or pull.

New body it is... least I can reuse the batteries and charger. Has anyone had any problems with vamo bodies from slowtech?

My first broken Vamo was from UK, and my current one is vapourbreak, but I think dropping any of them enough times is gonna do the job. You could always try the SVD this time (I must admit I was tempted). Same price from fasttech and seems to be the legit version.

Thanks for that spot Dev, you've got me intrigued now...

The only thing I would double check, purely because someone at work thought he'd read something about it, is the fact that the SVD doesn't use PWM, so in theory can use more battery (although should have more consistent voltage if I'm correct). I've never heard anyone complain about battery life in the SVD, but I would double check just in case.

Shouldn't be too much of an issue, I vape on low voltage and low resistance and have 2 x 18650s and a an eGo-T as backup :)

Well, if you get it, let me know how it compares because I'm sorely tempted!

j.col, don't tell me 5 weeks! That's not what I need to hear :( I'll almost certainly crack under the pressure and vape it all straight away lol

Cheers dude.
The only time i missed smoking was the next morning with a strong coffee.
I dont know why i didnt switch over sooner tbh.

I sent you a pm with the link as there are only 2 left in stock :D

@Jay

Maybe.

Maybe pick yourself up a nice coffee liquid. I always loved decadent vapours' cafe braziliano.

On another note, my capella concentrates arrived today! :D

One vote for the first post to be amended to this :)

I'd be happy to update it. It is a bit dated at this point, but everything changes so quickly with vaping! If anyone has any suggestions I'll gladly take them on board. I'll clear out the dead links and outdated recommendations when I get a moment on my pc.

Aye she is the kind of person which will check 4 sides of the iPad and then realise the first side actually had the lock button on it.

She knows she has to stop smoking and she really has no clue on any of it, I don't mind putting my hand in my pocket if it doesn't work, it doesn't work but atleast it's an avenue explored.

I'm going to head to bed in a min, but I'll make a note to check YouTube for a video taking on apart and explaining everything and see what to buy, I did say about flavours and her comment was just keep it as tobacco however I'm she'd be open to try new flavours, especially if they're so cheap.

Edit:

So something like this would do?
http://www.vapeland.co.uk/usa-mix-198-p.asp
http://www.vapeland.co.uk/vision-v3-ego-black-kit---900mah-97-p.asp

And that's all you'd need to start?

That kit would be grand. Flavours can take a bit of experimentation (as does nicotine strength) so it might be worth getting a selection or at least two different ones. Tobacco liquids often taste more like a pack of cigarettes smells rather than how a cig tastes, so don't fall for big claims that they taste like B&H etc. There are some very realistic flavours out there, but theyre a bit pricey (eg el Toro el cigarillos, which is amazing).

Just pushed go on the SVD battery compartment from Fasttech. Here goes!

Let me know what you think of it!

My trustfire charger just stopped working. I never really liked it, it took over 12 hours to charge my 18650 batteries - is that normal? Also seems a bit like a knock off with a dodgy trustfire label on the back that wasn't exactly cut out square.

I've gone for the Nitecore Intellicharger i4 Li-Ion battery charger for Li-Ion, NiMh and NiCd. Hopefully it will charge faster and last more than a couple of months. Its from Torchys ebay.

I intent to take the trustfire back to the shop and exchange it, keeping it for a backup only.

You'll be happy with it. I love mine.

Oooh, about three days?

I don't actually smoke - I'm only vaping as smoking shisha in the house was getting to be a fire hazard.

I'd also consider myself to have a pretty good palate, at least compared to the next man, which is possibly why I'm a little disappointed with the flavour of these 0% nic e-liquids.

They smell amazing but, thus far at least, the taste has seriously been lacking.

I haven't vaped those specific liquids, but given the rave reviews, I think there may be some experimentation to be done.

I would definitely consider playing with voltage, as gurgling can be a sign that you're drawing more liquid onto the wick than the coil can vapourise. 4.2V generally is the high end though, so if you start getting a burnt taste, back it off quickly to avoid burning the juice. Some flavours like a cooler coil too (usually fruity flavours) so excessive volts can reduce the flavour. Experiment a bit and see how you go. Also, check that no liquid has dripped down the centre post to the contacts of the Vamo, as this can really reduce the current going to the coil.

As above, try different ways of drawing on your ecig. Unlike a burning smoke, drawing harder doesn't = more vapour, as the coil can only vapourise so much at a certain voltage. Long slow draws (experiment here) are the rule of thumb.

I know some chaps have spoken about removing a part of the wick in the protank to improve flavour (I could be getting mixed up with the Evod here though) so perhaps someone who uses the protank could offer some advice here.

I'm finding the Protank to be a bit hit and miss.

It will usually toke well, with a good flavor, but then it will randomly give of a horrible rubbery hit. This is easily fixable by unscrewing the base slightly until you see bubbles travelling up the tank.

But that rubber taste is horrible and makes me paranoid about my lungs health.

Anyone know how to stop this? All 4 heads I have do it.

The only solution is to recoil the heads yourself. The "legs" of the coil are held in place by a rubber bung, and as the coil heats up, so do they. If you recoil the head yourself you can double up the legs, halving their resistance, and make sure they don't get that hot.

I do love the el Toro juices, but I just can't justify paying for juice anymore. Besides, a chap I work with steeps his own tobacco and sorts me out 50ml here and there. It's quite nice, but it gunks up my rest in a matter of days. My VC mix is only on day 3 of steeping and I'm getting anxious already! I mixed up a wee 10ml batch of graham cracker that I'm going to dive into when I finally finish this lotus flower.

what grade mesh do you use with your rsst?
Is there anything new from smok which replaces the rsst?

I use 400, but I haven't tried anything else so there may be something better. It just seems really easy to set up (well, as easy as a Genny can be) so I can't see anything better to replace it just yet. I'm considering a second for experimenting on while keeping one working coil intact! Would make swapping juices a bit easier too.

I have over a ltr each of vg, pg and distilled water. Im not sure what the shelf life is on the vg and pg, but would it be best to keep it in the fridge? Especially in the heat we have been having.

Im loving my AGA T2. After quite a few failed attempts at making a decent coil without any hot spots i found the 'precoil' method works best; in which you use a 3mm (i think) drill bit to fit the coil in situe. Slide the drill bit out and slide the mesh in. Works perfect every time (and i tried a few just for the hell of it because i was so amazed after all the failed attempts when not using a drill bit).

That's exactly the experience I had. After countless popped coils and shorts, suddenly a veil was lifted and all became simple. It still requires the odd twist and pulse (not the dancing guys) to sort out the occasional short when you first put the wick in, but after that it's plain sailing. I will, however, admit that 4 wraps seems to be much trickier than 3.

Thanks gents, I'll order some wick and coil and give one of them a try. This may be a silly question, I've read a few posts now where people have rewicked the PT heads - are these the standard heads that you can buy/come with the units or are there 'special' rebuild friendly heads available?

You'll be surprised at how easy it is once you've done it a few times. The best advice is just make sure the coils don't touch each other or the side of the head. After that it's just a case of poking the legs in, popping the bung in and shipping off the excess wire.

Yeah I hate metal drip tips. They look great, but don't feel nice.

V_R, I suggest 0.4 ribbon kanthal wire and 400 mesh to start with. I get a 1.8ohm coil with 4 wraps with that setup and everything seems to wick fine. I actually use the ink tube from a ballpoint pen since I don't have a drill bit, but a drill bit would be better. I tend to wrap the coil in situ rather than connecting it afterwards.

For that you could get a decent starter kit. On my phone at the minute, so can't link, but if you go over the last few pages you'll find a link to one for £26. You could order a kit from fasttech (Asia so slow delivery) that has two evod atomisers and two batteries for very little as well.
