The Witcher 2 - Thread

The lighting looks absolutely phenomenal. From the looks of the video above, they seem to have taken everything and just made it better. The combat looks like the enemy can actually feel your sword hitting them and the Signs seem a lot more prevalent.

The Witcher was epic on the first play but lost a lot of replay value since there was really no variety. I never completed my 2nd attempt. Even if enemies reeled from sword hits the lack of variation in Signs (the only 1 that was any good was Igni, the rest were so ineffective by comparison) it just needs to offer a little more to try out different styles.

This game is very high up my radar, just hope my machine copes :)
Really looking forward to this, full scale RPG aimed at the benefits the PC platform offers. Hopefully it'll perform decently given its been designed with the PC rather than consoles in mind!
Well we can hope!

That said, some of the screen shots and textures really do demonstrate this hasn't been designed with the consoles holding it back. The video has some pretty nice realtime lighting in too; some nice shadowing, sunrays etc.

The NWN engine was pure pants, I never liked it in the first game.

I cant stand RPGs without an open explorable world, but NWN had its D+D based combat that I really like, Witcher 1 didnt.

Sadly, that concluded my time with the Witcher 2. However, my immediate feeling was that: Just like :D:D:D:D:D:D:D a succubus, the Witcher 2 looks and feels amazing, but it left me drained and wanting more. Now, that’s the sign of a great RPG. Perhaps it’s simply because I’m such a fan of the series, but I don’t think it will be hard for anyone to become deeply engrossed in the Witcher 2.

This game looks great, i stopped Pc gaming a couple of years ago but with this, shogun 2 and skyrim i think im going to have to dust it off and upgrade!

I wonder if you buy from GoG will you be able to link into steam for updates and the like, and ease of reinstall.

The new price for preorders of DRM freee download for £27 looks excellent, especially in comparison to steams 'preorder' pricedrop, which can almost always be taken to be the price the game will cost after 2 weeks now.

You can't tie it to Steam. However, if you buy the game from GoG you will be giving your money directly to CDProjeckt Red, the guys behind the game, something to bear in mind when purchasing.

The Witcher had a built in update client if I remember correctly so maybe this one will too.

Yup, the pre-order's £26.99 with the usual bonus content. You also get a free classic RPG from their catalogue.

Anyone else been invited to a livestream Q&A session (with the developers) with footage etc. of the game running?

I'm quite looking forward to it :)

Question 1: Is this being released on the 360?

If yes, then alarm bells WILL go off!
