The Witcher 2 - Thread

How far in are you before giving up? IIRC, it takes a little while to kick in, then it's just incredible.

Well the first time I gave up about half way through Vizima, the latest time I did the whole swamp, tower and got teleported to see Triss. Then did a bit of that area and gave up again. I just find too many of the quests aren't very grabbing and the good story bits seem to be really spread out.

Also dont really notice any differences between EE and non-ee versions...hrmm maybe quicker loading screens. Was the EE just a code tidy-up and bug fixer?

They re-recorded a lot of the dialogue too. The original English translation was truncated due to budget constraints, which led to some poor voice acting and some weird use of language.

Much of the voice acting is still bad though!

Interesting factoid: I've met and directed Doug Cockle, the english voice actor who played Geralt. He played a character in a video game I worked on some years ago.

Not sure if I'm gonna get this. Played and completed the first one pretty recently and not a fan that it took forever and kinda dragged towards the end.....I don't really find the story that good either.
It's a good game and worth playing just not sure if I need a sequel.

I have just got to the epilogue and have absolutely loved the game. Numero deuce cannot come soon enough. It really is the year of the RPG for me, I played: DA, Witcher, ME and Divinity 2. All of them have been fantastic, I cannot wait for the three sequels announced.

I've just started playing the 1st one & so far I'm really liking it, so more of the same for me!

Same here, I like the bleakness of it all. Seems quite low-magic as well which makes a nice change for me.

Really love the look of those W2 trailers. I'll have a nice new rig to play that on by then, too.... :p

How do most people do combat in the first game? I was using the close OTS view but it seems to put me at a bit of a disadvantage in group battles.... Having great fun playing poker and taking peoples' monies at the moment! :p

I didnt actually like the first one very much, I played about half of it, but hated the combat and spell system. It didnt appeal to a mageaholic like me :(

I'm trying to avoid reading anything about the game; I just want it to be a big surprise. This is the only game I've preordered this year, because unlike most other publishers/developers I trust CD Projekt to come up with the goods! DRM free too from GOG which is the icing on the cake.

Anything PCGamer writes should be 100% ignored. I'm not disputing that I think this is going to be an incredible game, but PCGamer+throwback go hand in hand.
