The Witcher 2 - Thread

First one could be explained by them using a whole new client to remove the DRM mess and improve performance, this DL however, late, delayed, massive. Glad I went with GoG this time.

Got into work this a'noon and there was a big box copy of The Witcher 2 sat in the control room, "whose is that?" I said to my mate, "yours" he said, Professor Price can't run it on his PC so he brought it in for you. "Cool!" I said, "how much?" "Nothing!", he said you can have it"!:cool::) Looks like i'll be playing it sooner than I'd intended then, have they ironed out the bugs yet?

If your reading? Cheers Prof!!! :) Mind you, I doubt Professors read this forum.:(

Finished this last night in 23 hours total played. That's with a fair few deaths early on and doing almost all of the side quests.

Thought it was a very good game overall.

I can't believe he described the campaign as being nightmarishly long .

Most of the other stuff was pretty accurate in so far as his extreme hyperbole can be considered accurate. I still haven't figured out what all the bloody mutagens were for since I only had about three spaces to equip them by the end of the game.

The problem with mutagens is, unless you go down the alchemy tree and craft a lot, their availability is highly limited (and that you can't change them once you use them). Most builds will choose the greater critical effects mutagen due to its versatility

Going through for the second time, this time with magic. great game.

Oh, I understood how they worked it's just that they didn't really make much sense. In the first game they unlocked certain special abilities and could only be gained from rare creatures which was a much better implementation, in this game nearly every creature seemed to drop them yet, for the most part, they were useless except to sell for lots of gold (which then begs the question as to what common people needed mutagens for).

Finally got round to having a proper play on this and spent most of the afternoon on it. Got to the forest and had to go and speak to some bloke and when running through a doorway the game crashed to desktop with no error codes or warnings etc. Runs absolutely flawlessly though on my rig, with ubersampling disabled but 4xAA at 1920x1080.

Got this yesterday and played for a couple of hours and i have to say its such an immersive game, graphics are great. Although i am dying a lot lol still have to get use to the combat system but im getting better. Ive got to the part where you escape the prison place.

I seem to be stuck. I am at the start of chapter 1 where you get attacked by a lot elves under the shield thing. No matter what tactics i use i always end up dying, any advice?

Thanks

Are you trying to fight them outside of the shield or something? As long as you stay inside the confines of the shield you can just wait for them to get into melee range and "kite" them along the path roche takes whilst hes carrying triss.

I really fail at the combat in this.

I didnt pay much attention to the tutorial, but I'm at the part where you have to use the catapult thing (right at the start) and theres about 8 enemies I have to kill. With no replenishing health!

Also Im finding pressing e just completely ineffective. Help please!
