The Witcher 2 - Thread

Anybody have any problems with this game on steam ?
it downloaded about 17gb for the game and 5gb for the bonus content (i thought it was extra missions, better textures, bonus items at first) when i tried to launch it i got errors. checked integrity of files and got 1 file with errors...im guessing it was about 1gb in size with the amount of time it took to dl it.
now i tried again to launch it and it says 51 files failed to verify ???????? wtf its downloading 9GB

The latest patch has made playing in 3D vision excellent, the slow indoor areas and shadow glitch issues have all been resolved and it looks jaw dropping, frame rate is great, everything on except uber sampling.

A recent Forgotten Land - Riverside, Witcher 2 Music Video on thewitcher.com offers a stylish look at The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, CD Projekt RED's RPG sequel. The video concludes mentioning the upcoming Xbox 360 edition, followed by this: "Soon new and improved PC Version 2.0," so it seems that much like the Enhanced Edition Director's Cut of the original The Witcher, the sequel will be receiving some sort of major post-release update. We may hear more about this from Gamescom this week, as word on the website is: "Last, but not least, don’t forget to watch for our announcements during the show; we’ve prepared something really special for our fans!"

just ordered finally..... lol. bout time I got stuck into the sequel.

I played the first one just after this christmas and completed in about a week, I came away feeling a bit 50/50 about it but then I realised for me to complete a game at all let alone in a week meant that the game was ****ing awesome! so hope the sequel is as good if not better. :)

If there is one company in the world that I am proud to be a fanboy of, it is CDProjekt :-)

Why can't others like EA, Squeenix..be like that? (I am not mentioning Actard and Ubifail, those are irredeemable..)

i jst got this game from GoG, on offer atm

but im really struggling with the start of the game :S

healing your self? like drinking potions ? how ?
and is not possible to defend your self in battle or am i missing something ?

I only just started a few days ago as well Haze, and the combat is definately a lot more challenging than the first.

Healing yourself - you have a slow innate regeneration, however you have to take potions whilst out of combat in this game. If you go into 'meditation' you should get the option to drink potions :) I heard they changed this to stop people just swigging Swallow/White Raffard's like you could in the first game once you had White Honey.

Defending yourself is also a bigger thing in this game than the first it seems, but you can Parry with E (whilst you still have endurance or whatever its called, the same stuff you use to cast signs). Initially this only blocks 50% of the damage, and gives you a quick break in thier defences, however by the time you've reached level 6-7 there's a talent you can take which allows you to block in all directions rather than just in front, and also blocks 100% of the damage.

Its definately more of a challenge than I was expecting though, I've been dying a lot as I've adjusted!
