The Witcher 2 - Thread

Just getting through the first one atm. Really enjoying it, even tho its 3 years old the graphics are great. Looking forward to the next one.

Yep, though every edition is now the enhanced edition as the guys behind The Witcher are ultra cool and decided to make it a free patch to those who originally bought the game :D

Calling the Enhanced Edition a patch doesn't really do it justice... it was a frigging overhaul!

Was an epic game but i just couldn't get into it the second time. There just wasn't enough variation. Trying to use poisons and whetstones wasn't really worth the hastle. Igni was the only spell worth a damn, the rest just seemed like small gimmicks and even trying to focus on them wasn't worth the effort. By the end Group Stance did about 5x more damage than tough stance to a whole mob not just 1 target. Don't get me wrong the rest of the game was epic, but the character progression/combat left a bit to be desired on a repeat playthrough(s).

Oh and Neils information gathering implant strikes again.

That video posted by Niel is awsome. The stealth reminded me of the gool old Theif series, I was half expecting one of the gaurds to shout "Come out you taffer!"

I'm reading the original books of The Witcher and they are fantastic. I'm going to borrow the first game of my mate when I get my new laptop early next year and then I'll be getting this for sure! I've played about 5 hours of the first one and loved it :D

A pixelated ingame object
A DVD that will be on youtube day 1
A Soundtrack that will be on youtube day 1
A printed world map that you could print yourself and will be available on the internet, likely before release, as well as ingame
A book of concept art that will be published on the internet
A 'sculpture', 2 paper figures, 2 coins, dice, stickers and playing cards that probably don't even cost 10 quid combined to make.

- all for about 100 quid more than the standard edition.

worth it

I shudder to think how many people actually purchase such things

I'd probably pay about €40 for all the stuff included there bar the head. Let's face it, Geralt hasn't got the nicest of appearances, besides I'd much rather Triss' bust gracing my shelf :D

I will get it, and I would get it for twice that price. Why?

1) I love Sapkowski's world and all the books
2) I love the first game
3) CDProjekt is my favourite game company (amazing job with EE of Witcher 1, GoG.com..)
4) I have the money :P

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand CDProjekt confirms its status of the best gaming company ever:

according to eurogamer, Witcher 2 will be on GOG.com DRM free on release.

Gotta love those guys.Being so good to their fans.

As long as they release the soundtrack for no. 2 at some point too. I still listen to the original and the 'inspired by' album all the time.
