The Witcher 2 - Thread

annnd on twitter the devs have just confirmed that Witcher is definately DRM free on GOG.

Ive just bought this via steam, not sure when its released mind or for pre-loading?

Various places say the release date is 17th May 2011,if this were the case surely steam wouldn't be advertising the game already to purchase this early on steam, NOV 2010 is the release date?

Ive just contacted Steam to find out if the game is being released in May 2011,if this is the case i have asked for refund

GOG are offering it for the same price and giving you €16 to spend on any other game on the site.

Still too dear, i'll be going retail.

Cant wait for this. Why has steam got it up for release in November? Just after the announcement the other day of 17 may 2011???? Are they teasing us?

The GOG.com offer is utterly amazing. So many bonuses, plus 16 bucks bonus + free game + DRM free!

I know why this is the best company in the bussiness.

I will get it, and I would get it for twice that price. Why?

1) I love Sapkowski's world and all the books
2) I love the first game
3) CDProjekt is my favourite game company (amazing job with EE of Witcher 1, GoG.com..)
4) I have the money :P

Is there any particular order to the books, I'd love an answer without having to check through book descriptions etc. Thanks :)

There are 7 books. First two (Last Wish and then Sword of Destiny) are comprised of short stories about Geralt and later (in SoD) introduce Ciri - second major character.

These two books are followed by 5 part "main" saga - Blood of Elves, Time of Contempt, Baptism by Fire, The Swallow's Tower and last one, Lady of the Lake.

And The Witcher game then follows Lady.

However, as far as I know, only books Last Wish and Blood of Elves are translated into english so far - skipping Sword of Destiny, which is pretty essential.

I want to kick someone into nuts for not translating all of them ASAP to be honest!
Luckily I own all of them in my native czech.

Ordered on steam in all the excitment i thought it was out now:( But i dont care ive got my copy now to just wait......

So did I. Bet we weren't the only ones thinking that. Don't think Steam is exactly making it clear it's not out yet, with their 'Release Date: Nov 2010' display.

A bit sly if you ask me.

Edit: Now I come to think of it, it's very sly. To put it bluntly, they're lying in order to get pre-orders which as we all know, are charged the moment you place them on Steam.

Ive just this minute got a refund from steam for this after asking this:

Hi

I have just Pre-Purchased"THE WITCHER 2",i thought the game was ready to be released very soon, but after some research it seems the game will be released MAY 17TH 2011?

If MAY 17TH 2011 is indeed the release day for THE WITCHER 2 i would have never pre purchased the game so early!!

So if the release day is some months away can i please have a refund on this pre purchase ?

If the game is due to be released in NOV 2010 as advertised on the steam pages i will keep the pre order.

Can you please get back to me to confirm these details

The game has now been removed from my steam account and ive been refunded, so i think its safe to say the game will not be released anytime soon :(
