The Witcher 2 - Thread

They have ALWAYS said that it will get released in 2011, and they just recently confirmed the hard set release date to be may.

It is just steam that got it wrong. They often do, for example WIth Zombie Driver they advertised it as multiplayer game, so a lot of people bought it only to find out that this "multiplayer" are actually only leaderboards.

Some people at Valve need punishing / replacing.

Ugh I fell for it too. Takes a special kind of moron to set the release date to the date at which the pre-order was "released". I see they are in no hurry to fix it...

People might want to have a look at this.
Seem to be GOG, good old games doing the same discounted deal as steam, but not charging people until the game is actually released, and as with all GOG products they are saying it will be DRM free, and indeed are givign away a free GOG title as well, and subbing $6 to your GOG account as the pounds and dollars price varies so greatly.

Interesting way to do business.
I might look to buy from them when i eventually get around to deciding.

Cheers for the link - seems the better deal compared to steam - who seem to have been making quite a few boo boos lately...

Ive just paid and installed the witcher enhanced from steam played for a while with no problems i had my issue of lag n such so saved and came off the game untill my pc decided to resolve the slow down issue. Went back on loaded my save and for some reason my sword was sticking through my body and an axe was spinning around. no matter what i did nothing resolved it so i reloaded a autosave and that fixed it. Just started to get other graphic issues, was talking to someone but i couldnt see my question choice it was just a black square. Fighting doesnt seem as responsive so im missing a lot of chains. I dont know this game feels very unfinished to me or maybe my computer is just saying no.

I've pre-ordered the collectors edition, considering I bought the collectors for the first one, it wouldn't do it justice without it. They've put together a really nice pack but I would trade the bust for a figure of Geralt anyday.

I think it's your computer, as I've played ~50 hours without noticing any of these issues. Do you have recent drivers installed? Have you verified your Steam files? Is your machine prime stable?

You can always get refunds for pre orders on steam. Even if the pre order gave you beta access. Did it for global agenda; pre ordered, gained beta access, didn't like it, got a refund.

I hope the retail isnt linked to steam as I have no more Hard Drive space !!! also buying retail for this one as I expect its going to be a rather large install.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings releases May 2011
sooo long off :(

You can always spread your Steam install over multiple drives using mklink, buy a large drive or.... uninstall all the old games you no longer play :p
