The Witcher 2 - Thread

This game is so awesome. LA NOIRE is going to have to be something special to better this game.

Anyone else have trouble fighting the nekkers in the cave? Took me about 6-7 tries to get past that part.

Been fiddling with the config settings to see what kills my FPS and what doesn't as I've just entered Flotsam and thought I'd use that area as an opportunity to test it. E8400, HD5850, 4GB DDR2, Windows 7, everything stock.

"Low" = 30 FPS
"Medium" = 30 FPS
"High" = 30 FPS
"Ultra" w/o UberSampling = 30 FPS
"Ultra" w/ UberSamping = 15 FPS

In all areas the FPS will bounce between 28 and 34 FPS, depending on what I'm looking at. There is some minor "hitching" when I enter a new place that it hasn't loaded textures and stuff for, otherwise it's stable at near enough 30. There isn't a 30 FPS cap, because I can run to a wall and look at it or enter a house and get 60 FPS.

So confused!

Just started Chapter 2 and omg, love the story and characters so far, gameplay is fun and the graphics are stunning, especially at the start of chapter 2!

Game of the year. :D

My email came with instructions:

1) Launch the game
2) Select the 'Activation' tab
3) Enter and confirm your code in the 'Pre-order Code Redemption' box
4) Download will start automatically
5) You will receive confirmation that the Ultimate Swordsman Suit Pack is active
6) You will now have access to your item in-game when it is appropriate in the story

Your key is unique and can be activated only once at a time so do not share it. A one-time internet connection is needed to install and activate the DLC. Some items are not available immediately but instead will become unlocked during early quests so as not to ruin the story.

Revoking your key:

Use the same process as above, but enter your code in the 'Code Revocation' box instead. When you do, you will be able to reactivate it for your next install so keep your key within your game box. When you uninstall the game, you will be asked automatically if you want to revoke your pre-order item key.

What drivers are you using?

With that do you have to type it in when you install the game because I think I missed that? I only typed in the code on back of the manual cant find anywhere else to put the code after instal.

Open the launcher, go to "Downloadable Content". A window pops up, on the bottom right side you can enter a pre-order code then click apply and it'll add it to your downloads list. The servers are very flakey at the moment though so it take a few goes.

Vsync without triple buffering would cause this. Your GPU isn't powerful enough to maintain 60fps at your refresh rate so halves it.

Latest 275.27 beta.

Ah, thanks for that. Looked into my CCC options and I had Vsync set to "Always on", I've set that to "Always Off" and also set Vsync in the game options to Disabled, but the FPS remains fixed on 30 FPS... so not sure what to do :/

That's quite odd not entirely sure then. Have you restarted since changing settings (I know that it's not necessary), may be worth a try if you haven't

Cheers, will try that now... might stick another driver version on as well see if that does anything (using 11.5a RC3 at the mo').

Thanks, its blacked out at the moment, think there servers might be down.

Why do people depend on mail order on an important game they want on release? Supermarkets sell the games for only a slight margin more. I paid 24.99 at tescos for this game and picked it up right away.

They really need to patch this combat. I don't have any problem with the mechanics but the hit detection is appalling. It's swilly having a game based on dodging when enemies can lash out anywhere and hurt you whether they hit you or not.

Was playing in the woodlands and i had a CTD, that scene was roasting my graphics card at 100fan speed :(.

The more i play this game the more I go and play something else, the witcher i was so addicted to but this doesn't feel right. I think the combat does need sorting as many have said.
