The Witcher 2 - Thread

Does anyone else feel that certain character choices can make the game much harder? For example I've chosen swordsmanship (currently I'm only level 10) and I'm having trouble fighting Letho, but all the guides I had a quick read of online say to use upgraded quen, throwing daggers or upgraded dodge, none of which I have though. So is it possible to miss a few key skills and suddenly have a lot of difficulty with bosses? or does it get better later on?

yeah i found him hard as well but then i picked up all the snares at the start of the game and just put them down in a line and apart from him chasing me around he couldn't case or throw things at me :)

I found him easy tbh and I chose the swordmanship route as well. Just use the trap spell and lead him into it and then once you start slashing he cant hit back. But when you see him raise his arm you just dodge backwards and stay back and dodge the bombs and then repeat until it goes to the cut scene.

You don't need daggers or quen.

I tried using Yrden but after the 1st use where I get a few hits in, any more uses and he just shrugs it off almost instantly. I'll have to give it another try though, perhaps I'll have better luck next time.

I saved my vigor points for parry. Run around the room to avoid his bombs and signs then once his Quen drops run in and smack him with a couple of heavy blows, parrying his counters. You only need to get him down to half HP

Just got to chapter 3 and instantly crafted what appears to be the best armor (Vran) and best Steel Sword (Caerme) and got the best Silver Sword (One from gargoyle contract quest, can't remember the name), as far as I know those are the best available for Iorveth's path.

Just glad I hung on to some Queen Endregar Pheremones from chapter 1 for Caerme.

With Letho I dodged around him and used Aard whenever I could (even when he has quen up as it will deplete it), when he's stunned go in and hit him 2 times and back out, repeat. Use some bombs for good effect also.

Picked this up in Morrisons for £20. Had a blast for an hour or so last night and was very impressed (ran silky smooth, everything set to Medium, havent experimented with graphical settings yet)

I'm a bit late to the party with this one but I enjoyed the Witcher Enhanced edition so this should be a blast

Just completed this now and I must say it was awesome, just brilliant. Some parts are hard but if you keep tying you crack them it’s a great feeling. Some of the politics and back stories in game went a bit over my head in Chapter 2/3, but I understood pretty much most of it.
I think this is the first game in a long while where I will replay and go the other routes.

Having never played the first game, would people still recommend getting this? It looks good, but having only played Fallout 3 my RPG experience is pretty poor! But I enjoyed Fallout 3 when I got into it, and could see the same happening here. :)

I never played the first one, but it's certainly not hampering my enjoyment of the game. :)

You do not have to have played the first game in order to enjoy this, though it would help a little just in terms of knowing what to expect tbh.

It is nothing like Fallout 3. It is much more cinematic and with more localized environments, however this doesn't really make it seem smaller imo, as there is still plenty to explore. The area around Flotsam is brilliant., you could lose yourself for hours just exploring it.

I am just about to finish chapter 2, really seems to be gathering pace now.

I think I'm going to have to get this.
