The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Same here. I'm not sure of the specifics, but I am almost certain you can save him because...

I'm pretty sure I saw it mentioned he is a possible ally you can recruit for the battle?

I don't think that guy is important.

I got the key and let him out but it doesn't seem to have any real impact on the story so I wouldn't worry about it :) Compared to some of the other bugs/issues, it's very minor.

Hmm, so it works. Literally had the conversation, said I'd try to get it, turned around and without doing anything a cut scene took over and ended any alternative.

Not important no, but he is a possible ally. I just checked. I had Hjalmar join the battle when I asked him in my playthrough, and he bought the archer guy with him. He also brings the guy in the cage if you free him. They don't change the outcome of the battle in any way but it's a nice touch.

I figured it out...

I didn't read the quest notes properly lol your not supposed to stand on the snow areas...anytime you touch the snow on the floor the sound waked the giant so you have to stay on the rocky parts..

I'm finding I'm gaining too much XP. I have too many quests and am levelling up faster than I can complete the quests before they go grey. I guess you can still complete them, but you get no XP for it.

Yeah XP comes wayyy too quickly above like level 10 it's not in the slightest game breaking. Playing devils advocate it could even be intentional 'bug' to slow it down slightly :p, levels are flying by so fast for me at the moment, certainly not worried about a couple of 100xp's that you don't get

Eh? Of course it is. It makes a mockery of the whole item system for a start as everything has a level cap. Complete the quest, get a level 20 sword as a reward. Becomes Irrelevant as you will never be able to use it.

Haha, yes, in fact I saw a hunter trying to kill a deer that for some reason was standing still on a rock with the sunset behind him being majestic as ****. For about a minute I'd heard this weird sound just after a fight and thought some bandit was shooting at me but I couldn't see him and couldn't quite pinpoint the source of the noise. After running in a circle for a while I spotted this hunter shooting at a non moving deer and missing him over and over.

For some reason most NPCs do almost no damage vs other NPCs, apart from specific characters (like Roche). Even the other Witchers and mages do pathetic damage to NPCs (including monsters).

Only managed to play for about 30 minutes so far. The combat/camera seem so sluggish though. Is it better to play this game with a controller?

Story is decent so far though...

Infinity easier to play with a controller. I couldn't kill a damned thing until I stuck my Xbox One controller in. Adventure RPG games are always better with a controller IMO.

My crashes seem totally random.

One day I play over-clocked to 1500 on the 970, no crashes at all, all day.

Next day, 5 crashes on same settings - reduce over-clock & run windowed with frame-rate limiter (no crashes).

Next day, same settings as the previous - 4 crashes....

I'm starting to think it's just random...., the drivers have made little difference overall - had the same black screen or random inventory screen pauses regardless of the patch version.

I even tried K-boost on the EVGA booster utility to see if it was graphics card power scaling causing the issue (when switching between inventory & game) - had a driver failure that time...

So far I've identified four key crashes.

Inventory lock-up.
Instant to desktop crash.
Black screen, visuals die - can still hear sound.
Black screen, back to desktop - then 'display driver has crashed'

Thankfully on average it's one every 2 or 3 hours, so not game-breaking. The annoying part is I like to play on my sofa on my projector with a game-pad & nothing is more irritating than having to get up every time something goes amiss during a key scene!.

Indeed, using a PS4 controller & dodging/rolling is significantly more accurate & easier.

On the hardest difficulty I have trouble saying alive on the keyboard, but with the game-pad it's pretty easy.
