The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

It seems the most common issue on Reddit and the Official forums is a drop in performance, followed by PC game crashes and stuttering.

Then the other bugs are all very varied and all over the place, and texture popin and loading is also dramatically worse for some.

The thing that really annoys me is there are constantly plenty of reports of bad performance, crashes and the like on reddit, but they can downvoted to oblivion. Almost as if it's a bunch of bots.
Seems SLI users in particular suffer as the latest patch broke scaling for some cards, hence getting around 40fps in areas.

This is why I was forced to roll back to 1.06
These crashes are from patch 1.07 until I rolled back. The game was unplayable

Good timing for me then, switching from 970 SLI to 980Ti. Still getting a solid 60FPS at 1440P. Mixture of High/Ultra settings. Higher settings than I used with 970SLI.

Oh do enjoy! I wish there was a single GPU out now that could give me the performance I want. Fingers crossed for Pascal or Fiji 2.0

I've noticed a bit of an FPS drop in game after 1.07, completed it but still playing occasionally, enjoying wandering around picking up random quests and collecting the mastercrafted armor recipes.

Just can't quite stop playing it yet... wonder what the final DLC is?
Quest to kill the Bruxa from the trailer perhaps, or some other higher vampire quest maybe?

Yo

Regarding the Bruxa from the trailer, if you get to the DLC quest Skellige's most wanted you'll find out what's going on with her

Here are the settings I'm using if they're any use:

Mostly the recommended settings from GeForce Experience. Except I turned SSAO up to HBAO, and also changed the foliage viability. Low just looked terrible, stuff appearing really close by, dunno why they'd recommend that for a 980Ti, I put it up to high.

System is a [email protected] and a 980Ti@1442MHz

Impressive how good the game looks using so little VRAM, not even 2.3GB used at most so far.

Thanks, I just max out every single thing at 1440p and get 62 fps as a minimum even with Hairworks completely maxed in patch 1.06.

I removed GeForce Experience because for some reason it always decides to muck up my game settings. I will say I don't overclock my GPU's as I want complete stability and I get enough performance in SLI, and Abobe Premiere doesn't like them OC'd much either.

Also be warned the Witcher 3 doesn't like some GPU and CPU overclocks sometimes. The engine seems very finicky at times.

EDIT: Got around to playing a bit after also increasing the core count usage from 1-4, and my new max fps is 110, up from 84
The game also runs much smoother now.

What do you mean you increased the core usage?

CPU cores restricted to 1?????

Yes, tell me moar!

Found it on reddit, and it made a difference for me.
As always make a copy/backup of the file before changing anything.

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\config\base\gc.ini
Open that file
"; Number of threads the GC should be running on
NumThreads = 1"
Change 1 to 4
Save the file.

It's a config file for the asset streaming system of the game, it's set to only run on 1 CPU thread by default

So for an i7 make it 8?

Anyone notice that the 1.07 patch broke a lot of stuff for people, and it was also the first patch that allowed rollback? Haha.

Actually appears the roll-back option isn't there anymore :/

It was there for day one, then got removed for some reason.
I had to manually remove the game and download 1.06 and install all the DLC manually as well. Galaxy keeps trying to auto update back to 1.07, despite having Auto Updating disabled. :(

Anyone had any luck removing the crossfire stuttering ? Been waiting to play through again and found the new drivers have fixed the stuttering and getting good usage from both cards but there's the terrible stuttering when moving the view. Basically makes it unplayable for me. I changed the mouse input but to no avail.
