The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Thought I'd give people an update on all my problems since the new patch.
I can now put all settings up to ultra with hairworks on full at 1440 with a 980ti, what I did find though was my game now started to crash and hard lock the pc so nothing but a reset could fix it.
The one occasion I was able to minimise the game I saw the error code which was something along the lines of "Nvidia kernel etc..." this made me google the error and I found someone mentioning that he had went into Nvidia control panel and changed power management to max performance.

I tried this and yup no crashes so far and the game actually started quicker and loaded quicker than it's previously done and while gaming was smooth before I've noticed that in the tiny parts where it did stagger, it doesn't anymore.

Hopefully this helps someone and it wasn't just a one off for me.

I've always had it at maximum performance, it's one of the first things CDPR support also say. Doesn't stop it for me sadly, 1.07 is a disaster for me; and I don't have any mods/cheats or OC my GPUs.

Although CDPR responded to people asking if there will be any hotfixes, by saying they're already working on the next patch.

Just finished this game.

Was an amazing experience: great story, tremendous characters, and superb gameplay.

9.5+ out of 10 for me.

I started the game on 1.06 and played on 1.07 for the last third of the game. During that time I only crashed once which was when I was tabbing out a few too many times while playing. Game ran really smoothly for me using two 980 Tis at 1300mhz with everything maxed out (including Hairworks) at 3440x1440. I turned of AA because I found the SMAA from my SweetFX/Reshade profile to be sufficient - also helped keep the game at 60 FPS with drops being rare.

Now onto my first playthrough of Skyrim (with tons of mods of course).

I've always had it on max performance and haven't experienced any crashes in all the 70 hours I played it.... So what you say makes sense (to me).

when it's not on max performance the card will downlock etc if it has low utilisation to save power

I guess the game doesn't like it

If you got the game from GOG do you also get the free DLC? When i log in to gog and go to my account the only stuff I have access to is all the junk like posters and soundtracks and whatnot.

Yes. Go to the Configure tab and tick the boxes for each dlc and they will be downloaded.

The dlc is free for everyone.

Edit- actually, I think you might have to purchase the free DLC bundle from GOG though. Should be a store page for it?

Yeah you do - it's free though. But you need to go through that to get the DLCs to show up under Witcher 3 on GOG.

Anyone else find Novigrad murders your fps? Sprinting through town causes my fps jump frequently between 40 to 55ish. I get 60 constant almost everywhere else except are very busy places.

Rather stupid question to ask but if you were me where would you play Witcher 3?

PS4 on a Samsung Plasma 51 inch TV with amazing blacks or

PC with a q9550 8gb ram and KFA2 Geforce 680 LTD OC 2GB ram on a LG SPVA 24 inch monitor from 2007.

Note that the pc is upstairs and tv is downstairs and the option to use a 10-15 meter hdmi cable is not an option as the gf won't be very happy
