The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Finished this last weekend. Great game. Never played a single player game for so long before!

It was amazing game. Disappointed by a few minor things. For example loot. Up to a certain point (less than mid way) there is almost no really advantage to seeking out all the hidden loot on the map. Hardly any of it is better than your current gear. Loads and loads of swords but not really improvements.

So basically the loot system needed a complete rework. Obviously the Witcher gear was good, but the whole system didn't really fit together.

Highlight would have to be the first encounter with those witches of crookback bog.

Not started DLC. Needed a break from the game so moved on to Arkham Knight.

I probably played the game on too easy a setting tho. The final two bosses, I ripped through like bits of paper.

The only fight that was hard was the fight with the dude that Ciri wants to take revenge on.

The really screwed up/missed a trick with the Swords hidden away. They made the Witcher sets too strong so every sword you pick up is practically trash tier :(

got my full Ursine mastercrafted armour and swords last night..

playing on DM and about only 45% thru the game.. cant wait to just focus on main story now for a while!

Would have been better if there was less swords to find, but to find them would mean something significant.

Almost every contract nets you something usually a sword. But they where.... pants more often than not.

Same for armour.

Yeah it was a bit of a shame about the swords and armour, I pretty much just crafted the witcher stuff and ignored everything else, not that it bothered me massively.

Maybe they could have made it a bit more of a challenge to craft them, like having to dismantle other swords and stuff to get what you need, so they still had some worth, I rarely had to dismantle anything.

On the subject of Witcher gear, I just started playing this recently and last night by mistake I sold my Witcher starting armour (Kaer Morhen armour). Whenever I play an RPG I always keep the starting gear, partly for sentimental reasons, and partly because it's often unique and I'm worried I might need it later. But this time I saw it was expensive to buy it back, so I though "oh well", and carried on playing. Then like 40 minutes later I discovered I needed it to craft some better armour and there was no way to get it again! So I had to reload an earlier save and do everything all over again :(

Enjoying it so far though. I like how all the villagers go about their business and often say things to eachother. I played TW1 and 2 on PC though, so I couldn't import my save since I'm playing on PS4 now.

I generally dislike these stupid "waifu wars", but Yen is much more interesting character and Geralt's true love, even if she can be abrasive and unpleasant at times. However she always has a reason for that. Geralt did some stupid/bad stuff to her. Calling her "real cow" is reductive and shortsighted.

Having played the first 2 games My Geralt was just carrying on as he was before.

Re: Yen - Must admit the writers are very clever at making you feel like a bit of a git.
Her attitude turns on a sixpence at Kaer Morhen.

Is there any way to individually download the patches? Got internet issues at home and still need 1.11 but don't particularly want to lug my PC to work. Just want to download and install the patch.

On Steam btw.

Any ideas?

Can I continue playing and do the DLC after finishing the main storyline? Or do I have to do everything first before getting to "end game"?

Just started playing this one (5 hours in) loved the first two, this one seems decent so far apart from some issues with the overall movement of the character.
The card game is awesome , I heard you can pick them up in real life but cant seem to find them at all? Anybody know of a UK stockist?

You can pick a different control response mode for Geralt in the options now. I didn't bother because I got used to it as it was and the second option just felt weird.
