The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Frame generation setting seems to break the game, turns into a stutter fest.
Runs fine without it but wanted to try it out.
Anyone else experience any issues with it?

I'm not seeing any HDR options when I have it enabled in Windows?
That's ok, like mentioned by the devs you won't have any in-game indicator or adjustment for it yet but it works. If you really want to tweak it you can but out of game in "dx12user.settings" in my documents/the witcher 3, there's HDR parameters there.

There's no native in game HDR option which I was hoping for.
There is native HDR.

I seem to be getting screen tearing with it enabled. Also get the crash to desktop. Don't want to mess around, so will play a couple of other games to completion, then come back to this one.

There is native HDR.

That's interesting, thanks for the heads up will have a look.

Doesn't relieve my general immediate annoyance with this release though.

So They've implemented HDR, why not add a couple of lines of code to make it accessible in the in game menu. It would take about 2 minutes to do.

This is not a game made by a couple of indie devs. This is CD Project Red, reworking a hugely popular and incredibly commercially successful game that's been out for 7 years. Yes it's a 'free' update, but either do it properly or don't do it at all!

I genuinely think my previously modded game with the Wiedzmin Lighting Mod looked just as good and ran about 4x better.

Such a shame, they have had a lot of time to work on this I was expecting decent performance and at least no bugs. Typical, why does it always take a patch to make things work properly!

Welcome to the 2020s. Basically an ******** of a decade on all levels. You can't even say ******** on a computer forum for adults. Ecce signum.

Managed to get RTSS working so can actually check performance properly. Yet another thing that you shouldn't have to do - you have to delete or rename the d3d11on12.dll file in bin/x64_dx12!

Getting about 40fps with ray tracing on, mix of high and ultra high settings, 3840x1620 ultrawide and DLSS set to performance - So basically 1080p in real terms. This is on a 3090. CPU and GPU not being taxed that much (CPU about 40%, GPU about 80%). I mean come on, my dog could do better than this.

If you are on w11, there is a microsoft hdr calibration app that allows you to calibrate the hdr to your screen. One of the bonuses is games without the hdr sliders should already be calibrated.

Different thing bud. I'm talking any sort of HDR being actually active or not, and specifically about Auto HDR in Win11 which was previously active and working in Witcher 3 before this 'update'. Witcher 3 never had any sort of HDR and I used to use SpecialK to inject HDR, but then Auto HDR became a thing in Win11 and worked nicely too.

(NOTE: Auto HDR in any game if it's compatible: Windows + G key / settings/ Gaming Features / "Adjust HDR Intensity slider". If the slider isn't active and/ or you don't get the pop up on game launch about "Auto HDR" being active (if you have HDR and Auto HDR enabled) - then it's not working!)

But apparently the game has in built 'native' hdr (see above) but CDPR can't be bothered putting it in the menus or letting you know it's active or not.
