The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

set DLSS to Quality and it wont be blurry
This is purely down to the game's implementation of DLSS and the DLSS version. All of my screenshots are a mix of Balanced and Performance. No blurriness to be seen.

The hotfix patch doesn't seem to install for me, I get a patch log full of stuff like:

Edit*
Guess I have to install GOG Galaxy and re download the game then lol. Seems the offline updater for the patch is broken.

Still fighting the game.

I thought the update, at the very least, was going to solve the cross PC/ steam deck problem with graphics config settings getting saved in the cloud with the actual save game files.

The new folder in my docs has a separate folder just for save games, so this should be the case - however when switching between Steam Deck and PC it is still carrying over graphics settings between the two systems so it must be porting over the whole folder structure above this as well! This is so ******* retarded it's just unreal. You have to reconfig all the graphics settings every time when you switch between each platform. So lazy not to sort this out, and so fundamentally easy to fix it's untrue!

I'm now convinced CDPR have totally lost the plot.

Is slow patch application a Witcher 3 issue, or a GOG one? I've downloaded the patch (1.9Gb) in a few minutes and it then started the install procedure that is still not done a full hour (!) later.
Quite a few threads about such issues with other GOG games - CDPR's Cyberpunk as it happens. https://www.gog.com/forum/cyberpunk...atches_takes_forever_to_complete_update/page2
Is patching just as slow with the Steam version of W3? Steam's patch is 3Gb, so different patching technique I assume. May be the first and the last game I bought on GOG...

Updated with the hot fix, framerates still arent much better. In Heirarch Square in Novigrade fps remains about 42fps even though the gpu is only 75-80% utilised. Frametimes still fluctuate wildly on occasions.

The offline patch installer at 1.9GB on GOG appears to be broken as mentioned, I installed GOG Galaxy and downloaded the game again through that which installed the patched version fine. Saved games remained as is and I uninstalled the offline version of the game from its original location.

Not been to novigrad yet but elsewhere the fps motion is smoother for sure, but the actual figures remain around the same, 70is in open scenic areas, 60ish in medium areas with NPCs etc, 50 ish in dense areas of shadows, foliage and NPCs combined.

Observations:

Photo mode appears to now be broken, it's all dark :/

Hotfix is great, crashing when changing RT ingame is gone, game is now stable on my end and I seem to get slightly higher framerate in Novigrad, although the fish market still hammers it down to 45 or so.

I've a bunch of ease of life mods such as FOV, vegetation adjustments in the ini, full hd rework mods etc etc. Fairly extensive. Can I just update and continue, can I get away with some mods or just wipe the lot?

Best to check on Nexus, for example, I posted above, one of the older Auto Oil mods work, whereas the latest one doesn't, with new-gen.

Wipe the lot. You're gonna miss the FOV mod.

Quick comparison of how the lighting can look in this game. No RT.

Doesn't the next gen patch already include the hd rework mod?

Same thing happened to me. Waited ages for update to download as gog is so *****, now the whole game is broken. Going to have to delete and download whole game again my saved games better work. What a shower this is.

Turns out the broken Photo mode is due to turning vignette  - How are the two in any way related lol. So to get photo mode working you have to toggle vignette on , then off again after you're done.

Lame!

That's quite annoying :/

Yeah the stutter has been fixed since the patch now, it's just in city walls the fps itself does drop still, although not a stutter, just it's lower. I'm just enjoying the game now really and have made steady progress since the patch, a further 2.5 hours. Figuring out how to craft bombs was a learning curve as didn't pay attention to the tutorials :D

The hotfix has worked for me :) I'm in this posh place wearing a Tunic :/

It's annoying how dark it gets outside with no lights, wish he had a torch or summat

You do have a torch! Equip it in the signs/accessory weapon screen (TAB key) and when you press middle mouse button you will light up a torch. Be sure you have the torch equipped in a pocket slot from the inventory too first though.
