The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Ah perfect timing for a patch to drop. Was about to start a new playthrough last night, then had issues loading the game, by the time i fixed that i gave up and went to bed. Load up GOG now and update starts downloading :D

Can confirm the RT shadows are fixed and performance is better on both CPU and GPU.
In Novigrad (CPU) I no longer drop to 40s and 30s with RT enabled, it mostly keeps 60.
In a dense forest (GPU) I can now use DLSS balanced instead of performance and still keep 60.

Impressed tbh, I did not expect them to get this ancient version of the engine to run well with RT.

Lol no. PT was only a technical showcase for Nvidia who paid for it. Do not expect to see it again. CDPR are going UE5 anyway for the next round of games and remakes. RED Engine ends with Cyberpunk. It caused them so much agro for 2 whole years and even today it's still not perfect in 2077.

Are they going to make a W4?

Not seen any rumours about it, though I appreciate it would take them years to make anyway.
They've announced a new Witcher game, but it won't be Geralt's story. All they've said is that it's being made with UE5.

I doubt we'll see it before 2027.

Also I think they're remaking the first Witcher game.

This ******* game. Updated to latest patch via GOG. On launch get this "Script compilation error" below. WTF. Any help please? I'm not using any "oil" mods if that helps.

UPDATE: Discovered it was my "Darker Nights Next gen" mod causing it. This guy has same issue on Nexus https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/7434/?tab=forum&topic_id=12466458
looks like won't be able to use it until mod is updated. Bummer as it's essential for me.

Read a tweet a few days back on how copying the dlss files (nvngx_dlss.dll + nvngx_dlssg.dll) from Cyberpunk2077 over The Witcher 3 ones (replacing them, basically), fixes the stutter/hick ups from TW3. Look and behold it did! Surprising how devs miss such simple fixes...

i assume only when using DLSS?

I literally tried everything suggested to fix stutters, spent hours and hours on it across the months, eventually it just took an upgrade from a 3900x to a 5800x3D.
Lol, with 5800x3d and rtx2080 the performance was lower, but almost stutter free while with a 4080 it stuttered like hell before the "fix".

I haven't tested it too much. I guess. It was due to RT anyway (I think from reflections).

Terrible optimization.

Heard and read so many good things about this game, but never got round to trying it - finally picked up the Complete edition in the Steam sale the other day and installing it now, did the 'next-gen update' improve it much, or not really?

It's a strange game, my friend with near identical setup had no issues from launch, yet I had stutters - both 3900x/3700/32GB ram - I went to 5800x3D and not a sign of stutters.

I experienced stutters with my 5800X3D and 4080, I might try it again now with the updates, I want to get into it but I find the random stutters and just motion was off putting.
