The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

What format were they playing it on?

Didnt want to watch too much so it stays fresh but the little i seen looks lovely

/edit nm answered my own question its running on PC

16mins in they bring up the options menu :)

They streamed ~3 hours of it last night for their official pre-release event. You can watch the vod here: http://www.twitch.tv/amazongames/v/5038418

I'm only 90 minutes into it but the first hour with Cohhcarnage was great, they went through all sorts of stuff in a bit more detail than we've seen before.

Watched the first hour last night, gonna go watch the rest now.

Been watching Cohh a lot on twitch recently with his witcher 1 and 2 playthroughs, he knows his stuff, is entertaining (and PG16 which is cool) and loves the witcher games.

Effectively, gameworks boils down to a number of graphical settings in-game that strongly favour or can only be used by Nvidia cards.

We're all complaining about downgraded graphics, but if you look at the bottom of this page, it looks like it is still going to crush systems.

Nvidia article.

My 970 is not happy about not being strong enough to run Game Works.... :(

Sweet..

1920x1080, Uber settings w/ GameWorks - GTX 980

:D

Well up for some hairworks!

What is gameworks? New to nvidia family and have a 970

Also that chart at the bottom, is that assumed to be 60fps i imagine?

Gameworks is all the Nvidia goodies such as: Physx, HBAO, Hair Works, TXAA etc.....

As for 60fps no. I think I read a while ago, they aim for around 40fps.

My 970 G1 is hopefully not far off a stock 980 so fingers crossed should be good.

Nvidia rep on neogaf says "The idea is 40+ in demanding moments. It isn't the final build, so I don't want to get into specifics."

In regards to the graphics being downgraded, as I just said in the graphics cards forum thread
"Based on previous examples on Witcher 1 and 2 they might just release an Extended Edition and not charge anything for the upgrade, should they get the appropriate sales?

It wouldn't really surprise me if manpower/cash were the reason, it's not like CDPR haven't come good in that regards previously. The extended updates for Witcher 1+2 were both extensive.

We need to be realistic; Witcher 3 is extremely ambitious."

Since it's such a rarely exploited theme, here's something for those anticipating the game who are not all that familiar with Slavic folklore:

Of course it's very unlikely that all of the above have made it into the game but I bet there'll be a fair bit of direct or indirect "intertextuality", if I may use that term in the context of a videogame;p. For example, there's an old tale of ours about a king named Popiel who was forced to lock himself up in a tower and was eaten alive by mice as a punishment for his wrongdoings. Allegedly, a rough rendition of that story has found its way into the game;)
