theHunter: Call of the Wild

Why the bad reviews on Steam? Played the original subscription game when it first came out and had 'Warden' status but stopped playing it and cancelled the sub.

I like the look of this but the reviews are putting me off somewhat.

Once you kill a animal, and harvest it and see all the stats inc xray where bullet entered etc, can you then go back to see thouse details anywhere or not ? i mean to show the whole lot including the xray of animal.

It's still quite buggy. Should still be in beta, tbh. However, the early signs with regard to patches from the developers has been promising and many are also still enjoying the game, despite the annoyances.

Don't think so. Would be nice to be able to pull that up from your history screen.

You will always continue from the last outpost you visited.

@LEUVEN However, I think they do need to tweak the length of time it takes for animals to return to an area after being spooked.

Absolutely, but thankfully it's not stopping it from being playable and immersive as I can always move areas if it seems too easy because of a bug.
should be an easy fix, if it's one they intend on doing....
Wouldn't mind being able to load from last place as mentioned above, might not seem real but life gets in the way so would come in handy.

Changed my review, was totally wrong about this game and have bought it again.
What I did not realise, in my rushed 2 hour refund window stupidity, was that where the animals showed up on your HUD, was just a tutorial and not a full time feature...

I am loving this game, it's actually giving me chills on just how realistic it is to the point wheres it's reminding me of my fond hunting days with my grandad. Walking around the map at night with my torch, listening to the beautiful ambient sounds of owls hooting, shadows playing tricks on me and forever thinking I see an animal but ends up just being a bush/log.

I am over the Hunter, I don't think I could go back.

Re the bad reviews - probably just dimwits like me posting unfounded opinions and people getting lag/crashes. PS they DID say it was meant for high end pcs.

How do you select the bow to be able to use it?
It's showing as purchased and I bought some arrows too but I cant add it to my inventory slots.

you need to go to the store box then storage and drag it over into your inventory.

heres video of me taking out the .338 for a spin.

Nice vid.

A couple of points.

Your water looks amazing! Mine looks like a 5 yr old has painted it on! What gives! I'm running a decent rig and maxing out this game (1080/7700k) so not sure why I get this problem.

The option to 'spot' an animal has never presented itself to me! I use an Xbox one pad but still... it's like we don't have the same game!

You missed out on a Texas Heart shot :p

Played for 8 hours and only managed to see and kill 2, takes me hours to track them, what i mean is, when you start tracking, usually says deer is trotting/running, so i sneak so the speaker icon dont go red, but it takes like hours to move like that ? what am i doing wrong, or dont you have to crawl or crouch for hours to track, and even after hours i never get close to deer, strange, seems movement is to sensitive to sound.

More often than not I dont tend to take much notice of random tracks. I hunt by noise, i'll follow a mating call or a warning, you know they are nearby, when i get closer i'll find a nice open vantage point and call them in with a lure, and when they emerge from the brush i'll i'm ready waiting to take them.
It also helps knowing the area/environment certain animals like, for example i just spent an hour hunting moose, got 4 by purely walking round the lakes keeping my eye on the shorelines/reeds.

Got my longest ranged shot tonight, just a tad over 404m with the .270 and standard scope, picked off a coyote that was just sitting and chilling in a bed down area, spotted it by chance when i visited a lookout tower in the far north east.

Firing point was the Lookout tower in the distance.

Use your binoculars for spotting. There's a perk that will open up later on that allows spotting with your scope. That's what DG is using.

@~>Dg<~ - That .338 looks awesome but, even so, that was some decent shooting. Wasn't sure you'd get the fox in one. Nice work.

Am I right in thinking that you were compensating for the drop of the bullet there? I think the default zero for all scopes is at 150m.

Oh and it was over 200m (250m-260m) and not over 300m as you said in the vid. :p

Another nice shot. With the starter optic, too. Impressive!

A little bit not loads though, the starter scope has a very basic Duplex crosshair, where the lower thin vertical line turns thick I placed level with the forward edge of hind feet of the dog, i thought this gave be best chance of a good centre of mass shot, didnt adjust for windage at all.
