theHunter: Call of the Wild

Played for 8 hours and only managed to see and kill 2, takes me hours to track them, what i mean is, when you start tracking, usually says deer is trotting/running, so i sneak so the speaker icon dont go red, but it takes like hours to move like that ? what am i doing wrong, or dont you have to crawl or crouch for hours to track, and even after hours i never get close to deer, strange, seems movement is to sensitive to sound.
I had this problem to start as it's simply not clear what to 'do'.

I'm still not 100% lol but I am seeing lots more animals now.

I will track an animal by walking or crouching but not being overly careful about noise. when I start to see the droppings I might go quietly but the sound indicator has usually kicked in by then and I just creep quietly towards the sound icon.

Biggest problem is seeing the critters as they are so well hidden. It's not a bad idea to stop and spend some time looking around with the bins as often they will be a dot on the horizon!

Just found this on Steam - http://cotwpromo.thehunter.com/#/readmore

"If you own a copy of theHunter: Call of the Wild and have an active membership for theHunter: Classic, you may be qualified for free bonus content such as outfits, weapons or equipment. You can unlock this content by logging into Steam and then verify that you own both games. The extra content will then be made available for you in the respective game."

Looks to have unlocked a 270 Warden Bolt Action Rifle and a Dry Leaves Ghillie Suit for me in COTW.

Anyone else had issues interacting with objects, the E prompt doesn't come up on some of them and I can't seem to do anything.

now and then you may get some kind of overlay issue or cant interact with certain objects . most have been patched now odd item though still will happen though.

for those who struggle to get animals you can move more freely. callers are great.if a animal calls you call back once.when it calls look immediatly with binos to the location.often you can see it or traces if you fast.

also as you come to certain areas especially open fields or water holes / ponds animals will always be close so before getting to close scan area for life.

So the callers that you start game with are ok to call with, or do you have to buy a special on, great game thou, even thou i spent 8 hours tracking, the scenery/atmosphere was awesome.

yes you have to buy certain callers for certain species.you will start will a deer bleat caller and roe deer caller.the bleat caller will work for blacktails and whitetails.just call once wait.the deer will often come to you unless spooked.

Ok, thx guys, back to the movement speaker alert bottom right of screen, i use analogue stick on my xbox one controller, and even moving it slightly causes speaker to show red, how do you guys manage on a digital keyboard ?

Well after my failed attempt on Mt Kraken the other day, I thought i'd kill two birds with one stone and take on Mt Leviathan and explore that region as i havnt previously stepped foot in it yet, My point of insertion was via railroad, along the way it was like having deer and elk on a shooting range, even got my first gold kill on a Moose (.270 to the back of the head).

Anyway after a lot of messing about I eventually began the climb from the end of the railroad, i ascended on the southern side directly up the face, until i crested on the rim of the caldera, I then followed the rim east up through the snowline until i got to the base of the final climb. It looked daunting, steep impenetrable rock face all round it seemed. I made multiple failed attempts from different angles, I thought I had run out of options when i spotted a slightly less steep approach from the north side, but that would require a full on rock climbing session, after about 15 minutes of picking my way across the open rock face i made it to the other side, whilst gaining altitude in the process, from there it was a short wander to the top.

Moving above the snow line.

Once I had made it to the top of the highest summit at the back of the caldera, and proceeded to walk round the ridge of the caldera to the north side, by this point it was a full on thunderstorm, i was just cresting over another high point when bam dead, didnt fall, so only explanation is either lightening strike or glitch/bug, I wouldnt have thought the mechanics to die by lightening strike even exists in the game, therefore logic suggests death by glitch, I hope my frozen corpse remains up there for eternity!

Is there many animals up top of mountain ? great screens.

Nah, you get the odd animal on the higher slopes but when you start getting up to the high alpine its barren as far a fauna goes. I'm guessing there will be in time through updates/DLC, the original had mountain goats and all-sorts.

Guys i have only played on the Hirschfelden hunting reserve so far, are the Moose, the Whitetail Deer, the Roosevelt Elk, the Black Bear, only on the Layton Lake District reserve ? or are all 14 animals on both reserves, not even tried Layton Lake District yet, whar reserve you guys like best, oh also, i do not see any pings on multiplayer server list, i do on all my other steam games.
