I need 20+ consultants.

If you know anything of any Atlassian tools and want a change then think about these roles. You can work from anywhere in the world if you've got the skills:

https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/adaptavist-jobs?country=gb

If you don't know the Atlassian tools but have consultative skills and can make it to London on 4th March then apply anyway and we'll probably invite you down on that day to drink some beer, have some pizza and get to know each other to see if we can work something out.
Darn... I live in London and work pretty much exclusively with JIRA and Confluence at the moment, but I'm out of the country on the 4th of March.

Think I applied for a Product Tester role a few months ago and was told that I'd be 'more suited to a consultant position'.

Well if we have your CV on file I can take a look and see if the ball was dropped in passing you between my product and my consultancy teams. Is your name the same as the personal website linked to in your profile?

Just out of interest, what is the level of Java knowledge you require for those Java developer jobs?

Mixed depending on the location. Leamington Spa needs pretty decent level, London we have junior and senior roles.

Ah I see that's interesting!

I'm in the learning stages at the moment so I'm trying to get a better idea of how to become employable as an entry/junior developer in the future.

Are you based in London? That's where the most junior roles would be and depending on what you are looking for, there's always opportunity to learn on the job.

I've read your other threads on here about getting into IT and the speed with which you picked up Java. We don't particularly require people to have degrees and we're open to all sorts of backgrounds even for junior positions. If we think you'll fit culturally and you show a strong desire and have something about you then there's always an opportunity with us. In the last six months I've brought in a guy who is in his late 50s into a pretty low level service desk job and hired a graduate whose career was destined for something completely different and everything inbetween.

Trust me your email address if you want to talk further.

I am based around Birmingham, which to be fair isn't too bad as there seems to be an increasing amount of entry/junior roles coming up. Obviously not as many as London though!

Yeah I am still studying Java, I am close to finishing the basics (I have a habit of going through it again and again until I'm very familiar with it). I should be moving onto Android tutorials in a month or two. Then hopefully be making some app's soon after that.

I am happy that there are lots of companies like yours that aren't entirely focused on degrees as requirements because that gives people like me the chance to break into the industry.

I will if you don't mind, I have a few questions :)

This is good to hear, and very relevant to Ross's situation.

If anyone knows of any first line support roles in the South East (Based in Eastbourne, can travel) that would be willing to take on someone with the right attitude but with no previous experience, please let me know!

Any tips to look appealing to a company that wants first line support as well would be appreciated. They all seem to want someone with at least a years experience around here so I haven't bothered to apply.

Worked my way up in retail from a young age, then into a decent level of b2b sales for retail, then fell into a part time job when my kids were born so the wife could continue working. Now I need to finally move into the sector I have always wanted, but am finding it difficult to even find something I would be able to apply for thanks to my lack of experience.

Apologies if you are not allowed to request such information within this thread.

I'm currently looking for a full time or part time "Technical Specialist". Role includes 1st and 2nd line of support of our product portfolio, software demonstrations to customers and partner companies as well as in house IT Support for our sales team. A candidate must have a good rounded view across the IT Spectrum, be able to work well in a team and have the ability to pick up new technologies to a decent level fairly quickly. The role may require travel (full expensed) and will offer great long term career opportunities.

Role is based in Stockport (Greater Manchester Area) with an up and coming IT Software company. We are looking to fill the position with someone more junior at this point in time (fresh or soon to be grad or max 1-3 years experience), but would be open to someone more senior for the right person. Salary Range from £20-£25k. Please trust me for more info or to drop your CV across.
