***There are jobs here***

www.grapevinejobs.com is a good site if you are looking for a job in broadcast or media. All the big firms advertise on there such as BBC, ITV, Sky, Technicolor, Deluxe etc.

and is a nightmare getting anything out of as so many people have access to it who don't always have the right qualifications

http://www.productionbase.co.uk/

much better site, although you need to pay for it. I've had much better luck finding the right candidates from there then anywhere else.

I have a question... how do people get into pre-sales? I am currently on an internship at a large telecomms company working in network operations and will go back in to final year of university starting in September.

I do love technology but I have had a small taste of the pre-sales world on my placement. I realise it is fairly get into as you need to have an outstanding knowledge of the product you are supporting, is it best to work within a company and then at some point migrate over the the pre-sales 'department'; orr go apply directly for a pre sales role?

Cheers

Anyone know of any home based consulting roles available? Foundation ITIL Certified, SCCM experience, CCNA trained, AD, Server 03/08, Exchange 2003,7,10, SQL Server. Originally from a SW Dev background (.NET) so very varied experience. Currently employed as an IT Manager, but would like a more 'customer facing' technical role.

Well, we mean not Junior. We need some experience with a help desk. If you apply with an up-to-date CV, I'll tell me boss to give you a call.

Cheers, I appreciate that but I'm not sure I have what you are looking for at the moment. I've done a bit of help desk work before for BT Broadband and I provide some first line support in my current job but it's not my main role.

I don't really have much on paper in terms of qualifications though so I am looking at getting some under my belt (A+, N+ etc).

If someone gets a job through a agency does the company have to employ them after so many weeks?

Depending on the contract agreed - or any union involved.

The factory I use to work for had to make arrangements to either hire (on FT contract) or move the agency worker (from current position) after 24 weeks. That place did staff about 65% of man hours with agency workers though.

Just a thought are there any links between yourselves and Tangerine? may sound like a silly question

Tangerine is our competitor, owned by Cadbury.
The only link I can think of is both are old name competitor (Dunhill vs Tangerine) in Pontefract, started out making liquorice confect.
