I don't understand why so many "junior" tech/engineering jobs all say that a degree is essential. I would that thought that if I had a degree I wouldn't be applying for £15-20K junior positions or is that just how the job market is now-a-days?
I'm soon to be leaving my engineering job of 19 years with only a BTEC ONC so constantly seeing "degree essential" for jobs that are extremely simple must be hugely under-valuing for graduates.
It's the trend but it's not a must. If your experience can cover the need for a degree understanding, a lot of places use it as a barrier.
